Dartmouth MEM Program
A professional degree program combining graduate level engineering and management courses to prepare future technical leaders.
The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Program is a professional degree program offered by the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. MEM engineering and management courses are taught by faculty from the Thayer School and Tuck School of Business. The combination of small classes and a high faculty-to-student ratio fosters class spirit and creates a stimulating intellectual environment.

Recently, the Agile Simulation exercise was conducted by Professor Eric S. Bish for the Technical Technology Project Management course and it was a huge success that implemented a positive learning environment for the MEM students.
“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.”
"This simulated an agile project using Legos to construct city buildings and infrastructure, which reinforced agile concepts taught in the classroom and gave our Technology Project Management students a realistic agile project management learning experience. " - Professor Eric S. Bish
Congratulations to our student scrum teams for their enthusiasm and creativity and our scrum masters, and , for expertly guiding teams to enact scrum values and practices.
A special thanks go to Andy Kaestle, our Lego City product owner, for creating and leading this instructive and fun hands-on learning exercise.
"When I reflect on my experience as a graduate student, I always found opportunities to apply classroom learning to be especially valuable. This exercise allows students to experience firsthand the benefits of Agile ways of working. Having applied Agile on a real team during this simulation, these graduate students are now far better equipped to bring those learnings to, and be leaders of, the many teams they will be part of throughout their careers." - Andrew J Kaestle
Today we’re enabling our community strength and cherish their relationships more.
Are you readyyy??? Looking forward to see everyone tomorrow and also all other upcoming events!
The Digital Applied Learning and Innovation (DALI) Labs hosted a pitch competition earlier in the term, where 10 contestants pitched their ideas to win funding and startup resources from DALI.
Martin Roeck (MEM’24) participated and won the Best Pitch Prize for his idea, ZappShot. ZappShot provides instant decarbonization assessments. With this assessment, businesses are matched with qualified decarbonization solutions within their network of providers. Today, ZappsShot has a complete prototype and is ready to build and release a minimum-viable product. Martin is currently looking to partner with a motivated team of software engineers and designers to build out the MVP.
A fantastic day yesterday when we welcomed the incoming MEM Class of '24 for orientation! Here are a few shots from their Scavenger Hunt missions.
This week our spotlight is on Srishti Chaudhary! She’s currently working as a Product Manager Intern for Walmart e-Commerce in the Checkout team at their Sunnyvale office. Working with one of the world’s largest retailers has helped her learn a lot about product management. Before getting into product management, Srishti worked as a Software Developer for LinkedIn and Microland. She completed her undergraduate from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra in Computer Science and Engineering and has been in the software space ever since. Srishti, a Grace Hopper Scholar has been a national level competitive coder in her home country India.
In her spare time she loves dancing, reading, writing, and “all things technology”. Being on Dartmouth campus has definitely helped her discover her new found love for water sports like paddle boarding and kayaking. She is looking forward to getting back on campus in the Fall and spend weekends paddle boarding on the Connecticut River.
Bringing back Our MEM spotlight series.
This week it’s Tishya Srivastava! (aka all star Tishya⭐️). She did her undergraduate at Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai majoring in Pharmaceutical Technology and is interning this summer at Intuit Inc. as a Product Manager, working on the Tech4Intuit team. Tishya, a Conrades' fellow, is also working on her startup, MEMRY with the DALI Lab and Magnuson Entrepreneurship centre for Alzheimers' patients and their carepartners.
She loves staying outdoors, dancing and cooking with friends in her free time. She enjoys being on campus, and loves hanging out near the Occom pond and swimming at the gym! She is waiting for the beautiful fall weather to do more hikes and enjoy the fall foliage!
Our students have wonderful opportunities for real-world challenges, ensuring they are well prepared to take on anything!

The Goal has a long tradition here in the MEM Program (and at Tuck). For the last six years the MEMs have joined the MBAs in posting pictures of The Goal in strange places (i.e. their Spring Break vacation spots). This year, we are again running a contest for the best photo. The photo with the most likes will earn the winner a piece of coveted MEM swag, so go 'like' away and share with your friends! Voting runs through Friday, March 29th at 3pm EST.

MEM and VT Law Professor Oliver Goodenough is leading the way for the legal implications of Blockchain technology.
Wyoming and Vermont hope to attract tech entrepreneurs by passing laws favorable to blockchain In 2018, then-Gov. Matt Mead signed into law a series of bills, including some legislative firsts, to entice the blockchain industry to Wyoming. Vermont created favorable laws that attempt to clear up legal ambiguity surrounding distributed ledger technology.
