Over the next several weeks please follow our page as we spotlight each of our providers. After joining Rockingham Eye in October of 2022 Dr. Karen Small has worked hard to establish relationships within the medical community and was nominated in March 2024 for the Golden Stethoscope award! Dr. Small specializes in medical eye treatments of glaucoma, retina diseases like diabetes, and eye problems due to systemic drug therapies and inflammatory disease.

March 30 is National Doctors Day, a day to honor and recognize the dedication and care our doctors provide to our patients every day!

Throughout March, we will highlight our providers and their exceptional work. Each provider featured has been nominated by their colleagues for the Golden Stethoscope Award, highlighting outstanding work in patient care.

Today, we highlight Karen Small, MD of Rockingham Eye Physicians and Associates. Here is an excerpt from her nomination:
"Dr. Small regularly comes to the ED to evaluate patients, communicates clearly when sending patients to the ED for further evaluation, follows up on patients she sends in, and provides continuous education to her colleagues."

Rockingham Eye will be closed Saturday, May 25th and Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen at 8am on Tuesday, May 28th.

Looking at the sun without the right eye protection — for even a short time — can damage your retina permanently. It can even cause blindness, called solar retinopathy.

Keep in mind that ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, or homemade filters are not safe for looking at the sun.

Rockingham Eye Surgery Center will open at 7am tomorrow January 16th.

We are proud to have met the challenge of accreditation and intend to consistently uphold the principles of quality improvement in patient care.
