Introducing another presenter at the 2025 Compelling Preaching Conference, June 16-21, 2025. The conference is part of the ASPIRE program at Hastings College.
The Rev. Jihyun Oh is the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.) and was elected and installed at the 226th General Assembly in Salt Lake City in the
summer of 2024. She is the first Korean American to serve in the denomination’s highest office,
only the second woman, and the first woman of color elected to lead the PC(USA) in its more
than 300-year history in the U.S.
Compelling Preaching Conference, June 16-21, 2025 Join us for this FREE conference, designed for active preachers, HC alumni preachers, Christian Ministry students, and seminary students. It offers cross-generational learning focused on engaging young adults via digital media and contemporary culture. Please note that some scholarship funds are available for seminary students.

Open Call is a summer experience for high school students exploring a call to ministry. Students participate in hands-on learning and discovery sessions on everything from storytelling and faith to current culture and strategies to preach cross digital platforms.
The first 25 to register will attend FREE of charge (covers meals, lodging and conference fee).
May 31 - June 7, 2025

Deadline for registration to the Harry Potter and the Bible online class is Sept. 24.
We'll look at parallels and connections (even differences) between stories and themes in the Harry Potter Books and in the Bible.
Each night of the class, we'll focus on a different book starting with Book 1 on October 1st.

Dates and times are: Tuesday evenings, 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 1, 8, 22, 29, Nov. 5, 12 and 19.
Cost is $100 per person or $200 per church.

Compelling Preaching Conference - Hastings College The Compelling Preaching Conference focuses on cross-generational learning and engaging young adults through digital media and contemporary culture.

Corey C. Schlosser-Hall, Ph.D. will present daily on “The Future of the Church” at the 2025 Compelling Preaching Conference.

Corey serves as faculty of the Presbytery Leader Formation Program of the PC(USA) from 2008- present where he teaches convergence ecclesiology, visionary and financial leadership, conflict transformation, and communications.

We're excited to introduce another Compelling Preaching Conference presenter. The Rev. Dr. Alyce M. McKenzie is George W. and Nell Ayers Le Van Professor of Preaching and Worship at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. Dr. McKenzie, an ordained United Methodist elder originally from Pennsylvania, is a member of the North Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Harry Potter and the Bible looks at parallels and connections (even differences) between stories and themes in the Harry Potter Books and in the Bible! For example, remember when the kids at Hogwarts were cursing each other? Remember that God cursed anyone in the Bible that treated Cain poorly, but then Paul said to bless those who curse you in Romans 12? What is the right answer? And are curses so bad? Hastings College announces two summer experiences for preachers or young people with a call to the ministry. Both are part of the ASPIRE program at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.

Open Call, May 31-June 7, 2025
is a summer experience for high school students exploring a call to ministry. Students participate in hands-on learning and discovery sessions on everything from storytelling and faith to current culture and strategies to preach across digital platforms.

Compelling Preaching Conference, June 16-21, 2025
is designed for active preachers, HC alumni preachers, Christian Ministry students and seminary students. It offers cross-generational learning focused on engaging young adults via digital media and contemporary culture.

You are invited to an online discussion with Rev. Doodle Harris, chaplain at Hastings College in Hastings, NE.
Explore connections between the original seven Harry Potter books and Bible stories! This course is designed for adults who have read the books and are kids at heart. Together, we'll enjoy conversation about two of our favorite subjects.
