Barangay Chabot X Pilipinx Radical Imagination Reader — October 30th 🇵🇭
Much thanks to professors and Anthony Santa Ana for releasing an important book and the people who came to support the Pilipinx Radical Imagination Reader book launch!
Support the book and local Philippine publish houses! The Pilipinx Radical Imagination Reader is an anthology of personal Filipino-American stories written by the community. The stories give a perspective of what it means to be Pilipinx in America, inspired by the African American concept of radical imagination with influences by radical black womanism.
Join us on October 30th as we continue to celebrate !!
Meet editors and Anthony Santa Ana of THE PILIPINX RADICAL IMAGINATION READER (see website: https://pilipinxreader.com/)
The reader is a collection of offerings of visual art, reflections, narratives, and living theories around...
- art and space
- food and identity
- diaspora and memory
- radical family building
- gender and sexuality
- health, well-being, and healing
- mysticism and indigenization
- coalitional consciousness and organizing
All pieces herein explicitly name a Pin@y/Pinxy experience. They express a vision carrying both memory and foresight, connecting individual and community with a strong quality of radical thought displayed in the narrative. These pieces are accessible, using language for younger readers and those not versed within specialized fields. We hope a 14-year-old can pick up this book and engage with it. Put together, these pieces hold a critical conversation with one another. May they feed the soul. (from Pilipinx Radical Imagination Reader FaceBook page).
