Who tf are you to be calling us scruffy ? Enough with your smug, backhanded compliments.
We as a city have historically been a blue collar town that is proud of its diversity. No other Bay Area city is even close to being the melting pot that Hayward is. You can see this any given day throughout our downtown area.
Yes Hayward is welcoming new residential development, because we have largely remained underdeveloped for many decades. But by no means are we now all of a sudden becoming interesting just because more affluent people are moving in. Hayward has always had a strong community that other towns strive for.
For those who have historically turned their noses up towards Hayward: fine. Please do not come. You do not bring anything of interest to an already thriving community. Maybe instead of using derogatory verbiage like “scruffy”, recognize who and what we really are - diverse, unique and scrappy.
