Diana Gibbs, center, receives a $1,000 Elks National Foundation grant check from Inverness Elks Lodge past president Mike Orndorff & (to the left of her) current president Ed Torres before the Elks members at our weekly Wed. social.
Mike applied for the grant to assist St. Vincent de Paul CARES settle homeless Citrus County residents in sustainable housing. Mike is our Veterans Committee chairperson and Diana is Mid Florida operations supervisor for St. Vincent de Paul CARES of the Diocese of St. Petersburg.

The Inverness Elks in Hernando care about our community, our county. Our Bingo Committee raised $1,000 for CASA to support their mission to help victims & survivors of domestic violence. Happy Friday fellow Elks! We drew the winners for our 50th Anniversary Baskets! Bruce Henry won the coffee one and Mr. Mahoney win the Currier & Ives glasses basket!
Ed and I then drove the two large FULL BOXES of new shirts and sneakers that you all donated to the Elks Florida Youth Camp! Kate helped us empty the car, they reached 3 feet OFF THE FLOOR!!

Mike from Ct took the honors along with ER Eddie this past week at darts! Poor Mike, he thought he could actually “take the trophy home”!
Randy & Tammy outdid themselves with their meatloaf this year and the Golden Troupers didn’t disappoint either! Crooner Bruce and Mary led the pack and it was FUN!
So the next time you’re skeptical, know this….Mark knows how to book GOOD ENTERTAINMENT! Way to go Mark!! And a great big shout out to the Golden Troupers for the belly laughs!!

Inverness Elks hosts the Golden Troupers, a volunteer song & comedy group from Ocala that includes some of our members. Today was a fundraiser for youth programs at the Ocala Civic Theatre.
You know what they say? Better late than never! GREAT JOB ER Eddie and Jim! You too can play darts on Thursdays, no experience necessary! Come join the fun and meet your fellow Elks!
Pat and I hosted the 4th annual Derby race at the Elks Lodge 2522. Although Pat was unable to attend, there was a good turnout and fun had by all. The buffet spread was awesome and the cupcake desserts were also great. I would like to thank Frank, Eddie, Sally, Kathy, Ric, Sue, Linda, and Ed for all thier help in making this a successful event once again. Also we would like to thank all the officers for donating bourbon to the officer bourbon raffle and there were some very good selections of bourbon. We thank lodge members and guests.~Rick Mechley

Kentucky Derby Party a Big Hit at Inverness Elks! Food buffet was amazing, the games a lot of fun, & of course. the drinks were refreshing! AND a 3~horse Photo Finish!

Privileged to teach, with Rachel Montgomery, Mental Health First Aid to members of my community (Apr. 25). This all-day course was available for free thanks to the Nat'l Alliance on Mental Illness-Citrus County (NAMI Citrus), Inverness Elks #2522 & generous financial support by M Powers Construction. Participants learn to: Assess if a person has a mental health challenge & how to Approach, Listen nonjudgmentally, Give reassurance & hope with facts, Encourage professional help, & Encourage other support & self-help strategies.
Inverness Elks support Children's Therapy Services of the FL State Elks Assoc. & their efforts to assist 628 children weekly for free throughout FL with various at-home therapies, incl. those with autism spectrum disorder. The Lodge sponsored a table for $2500 at the Unmasking Autism Gala in St. Petersburg on Apr. 27, represented by (clockwise from the front): Emily Cody, Kathy & Ric' Barmes, Anthony Kopka, Nancy O'Malley, Mary Childs- & Bruce Henry, Sally & ER Ed Torres, & Richard Cody. Gala fundraising will help establish a new service of providing equipment & personnel to diagnose autism.
