Community support and sponsorships are vital to the survival of agencies like ours. Many thanks to Board of Directors member, David Lusk, GM of Hendrick Honda Hickory for assisting in the purchase of a new transport vehicle for our residents. He helped us out tremendously with the inspection and our warranty. Paramount Kia of Hickory also assisted with the purchase in finding every opportunity to save as a non-profit. Our very own Interim Executive Director, Dr. Jason Guyer even got in on the giving. It's amazing what we accomplish when we work together for the common good.

Thanks to this graphic from Planned Parenthood, understanding consent is as easy as FRIES:
🍟"Freely given. Consenting is a choice you make without pressure, manipulation, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
🍟Reversible. Anyone can change their mind about what they feel like doing, anytime. Even if you’ve done it before, and even if you’re both naked in bed.
🍟Informed. You can only consent to something if you have the full story. For example, if someone says they’ll use a condom and then they don’t, there isn’t full consent.
🍟Enthusiastic. When it comes to s*x, you should only do stuff you WANT to do, not things that you feel you’re expected to do.
🍟Specific. Saying yes to one thing (like going to the bedroom to make out) doesn’t mean you’ve said yes to others (like having s*x)."
"Consent is never implied by things like your past behavior, what you wear, or where you go. Sexual consent is always clearly communicated — there should be no question or mystery. Silence is not consent. And it’s not just important the first time you’re with someone. Couples who’ve had s*x before or even ones who’ve been together for a long time also need to consent before s*x — every time."

Opening Doors Testimonial #2 Meet Marion, a community member who is thriving thanks to supporters help in "Opening Doors" of opportunity for him to walk through!
"Each of us has a survivor of s*xual assault, harassment, or abuse in our lives. In some cases, we know someone identifies as a survivor because they have trusted us with this information. More commonly, we move through our lives and relationships alongside the unspoken reality of those who have experienced the trauma of s*xual abuse.
Author and survivor Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” When someone you know shares their story of s*xual trauma with you, it is a sacred gift of honesty, vulnerability, and trust. This gift is also an invitation to believe and support the survivors in our lives and the countless untold stories surrounding us."

April 7th is day. Did you know? Most victims of s*xual assault never report the crime to law enforcement, often because of the responses they receive from friends and family members. It starts at home, at school, and at work.
. Every time you speak out against s*xual violence, survivors feel seen and believed. You don't have to be Taylor Swift to take a stand against s*xual violence and let survivors know you believe them. You can help stop the cycle of silence by taking the pledge to Start by Believing when someone lets you know they have been a victim of s*xual violence.
