There are two tracks to our engineering physics major:
🧲 traditional track - 36-38 course hours that include courses in analytical physics, classical and quantum mechanics, electricity and magnetism and kinetic energy and thermodynamics
🚀Biophysics track - 69-71 course hours that include courses in physics, biology and chemistry

Jogging back to you with a ! This week’s major is… Exercise Science🏈🦴!

The exercise science program builds on a basic science foundation to expand your understanding of practical and applied issues related to the human body's response to physical activity. Courses include the study of exercise physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology, sports nutrition, psychology of sport and physical activity and more.

Fun Facts:

⚽The curriculum prepares you for national certification with the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association or the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
⚾Students can gain experience through internships at local and regional health and fitness clubs, recreation centers, medical offices, as well as with various athletic organizations and teams – including the LR Bears.
🥍Alumni from our program are currently working for Division I athletic programs, Major League Baseball organizations, health care systems and for the United States military as trainers and educators.

In our sports management program, you will gain skills that are applicable to a wide spectrum of industries and career fields in sports such as:

You will also have the opportunity to study economics of sports, principles in sports management, psychology of sport, sports law and lots more in this program!

Fun Facts:
Our students have interned with a variety of sports organization such as: NCAA Division I athletic programs and conferences, NASCAR teams, Major League Baseball organizations and PGA Champion tour events.

LR students also regularly intern for the Bears’ championship athletic programs, as well as the Hickory Crawdads, a minor league team of the Texas Rangers.

With a bachelor’s degree in sports management from LR, you can find a number of fulfilling careers such as an athletic director, coach, TV anchor, play-by-play announcer, multimedia sports reporter, athletic communications, marketing manager and more.

Happy ! Today we want to highlight our Pre-medical Science Program🩺🩻⚕️

The program provides you with an understanding of select areas of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, with a focus on preparing students for careers in medical fields such as Medicine (MD) or Osteopathy (DO). It is structured to provide the necessary coursework for admission to medical schools.

Fun Facts:
🎓 The pre-medical science major also meets the undergraduate course requirements of most dental, veterinarian and other health profession schools, including Physician Assistant schools.

🎓 In addition to extensive laboratory experience through all of the biology courses, there are many opportunities for pre-medical science students to learn and develop skills inside and outside of the classroom including research, scholarships, and student organizations.

Additionally, students can use their undergraduate degree in pre-medical science to pursue one of our many graduate programs in the medical field including Physician’s Assistant (PA), Occupational Therapy (OT), Family Nurse Practitioner/Doctor of Nurse Practitioner(FNP/DNP)!

With The Charge: New Student Orientations coming soon and a class of now high school seniors beginning their college searches, we wanted to bring back to showcase all of our wonderful majors! This week’s major is... Nursing! Being a nurse is one of the most impactful careers you can choose. You can go anywhere in the world and change lives, but it all starts at our renowned nursing program at LR.

Nursing students have the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through a couple of pathways. The Pre-Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing are just some of the options.

Nursing program graduates are prepared to pursue graduate study in nursing and to continue education in emerging nursing fields. By graduating with your Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LR, you will be eligible for alumni tuition discounts for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

What’s up Bears! It’s Bethany here and I thought it would be cool to tell you guys a little bit about myself!

I am a Senior Biology major with a Chemistry minor. My hometown is Lexington, NC (home of BBQ 😉). I am one of your Bear of Distinctions at LR, as well as Senior Class President in SGA. I’m finishing up my research project working with plant circadian rhythms and stomata and am set to present at the North Carolina Academy of Science, NCAS, in April.

We are back with another ! This week’s major is... Economics! This program's courses provide students with a basic understanding of economic structures and processes with a variety of areas to study.

With two options for this major, students can choose to study traditional economics or international which is a 51-hour interdisciplinary program that combines economics, finance and international politics with a strong background in a chosen foreign language program.

And here is the best part! Qualified economics students interested in continuing their education through graduate study can easily enter several of Lenoir-Rhyne’s graduate programs, such as the Master of Business Administration or the Master of Public Health programs.

Through LR’s innovative Accelerated Master’s and Alumni Advantage programs, students who complete their undergraduate degree at Lenoir-Rhyne can complete their graduate degree in a shorter time and at much less expense!
