Hey, we are struggling a bit due to some spring issues totally beyond our control. If you can, please consider donating to Edheads to help us put STEM careers in front of millions of students nationwide. If you can help, please donate here:
Please consider a donation to Edheads! We need some help due to some hardships this spring that were beyond our control. Help us reach millions of students nationwide with STEM careers and their ties to school. And, if we reach our goal, we will convert our legacy Virtual Hip Surgery Game to HTML5 and bring it back! Please donate today at: https://givebutter.com/3ufhli
Our Spring fundraiser is under way! We need to raise money to reach the millions of students that use Edheads to learn about and test drive STEM careers. We've also been wanting to convert our legacy game Virtual Hip Surgery to HTML5 (already played by over 15 million!) so we can bring it back for millions more to play. If we reach our goal, we will bring Virtual Hip back! Please consider a donation, or, if you can't donate, please share, share, share. We need this in front of as many people as possible. Thanks! Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gCamvJtT
The IRS erroneously revoked our nonprofit status and we lost quite a few corporate donations in the last six weeks. AND we've been wanting to convert our legacy game Virtual Hip Surgery to HTML5 so we can bring it back. So we are combining this into a 'dream' fundraising extravaganza to pay the bills and bring back this game. Please consider a donation! Or, if you can't donate, please share, share, share. We need this in front of as many people as possible. Thanks! Donate here: https://givebutter.com/3ufhli
Check out our latest STEM Mystery on Edheads - it's our toughest one yet! Can YOU figure out what caused war ships to split in WWII? Check it out at https://edheads.org/stem-mystery-war-ships-splitting/
And if you are a STEM Professional, do you have a Mystery to share to help develop critical thinking skills and career awareness in K-12 students? If so, send us a message (you don't even have to write it - we are happy to do that for you).
Edheads was in the totality and it was an amazing thing to see. My son wants to start eclipse chasing! The photos aren't great - we didn't really have the equipment needed. But still, a great event!
Dear Friends and Supporters -
We are sorry to inform you that Edheads' nonprofit tax status has been temporarily revoked by the IRS. We are diligently working to rectify the situation and hope to have it resolved by late April 2024. Until then, all donations to Edheads are not tax deductible. We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time.
Have you checked out STEM Mysteries at Edheads? Do you know why bath toys ( Floatees) are washing up on the world's beaches? Can you figure out why there is a crack in a wall? Or better yet, can you help us create NEW STEM Mysteries? It takes about an hour to share your idea and offer your expertise as a STEM Pro. You could help hundreds or thousands of students learn about your STEM career, as well as develop logic and critical thinking skills. Contact us, if you are interested!! https://edheads.org/original-content/
Introducing (drum roll, please) STEM Mysteries!! Teachers can promote the development of logic and critical thinking by using these Mysteries to reinforce their curriculum. All are based on a puzzling or unusual thing that happened to a real STEM professional. All come with 'red herrings,' or answers that students should eliminate by using logic. All also come with teacher's guides, connections to standards, glossaries, and student worksheets. Check them out today! https://edheads.org/original-content/
Check out our new STEM History content! We are leaving Black History Month and heading into Women's History month. Available from our home page or from the link below. https://edheads.org/womens-history-month/
Here's how whales sing! Who'd a thought?
Scientists have finally figured out how whales are able to 'sing' underwater The physical mechanism they use has been a mystery until now.
Could you figure this out?
People can't believe a wavy brick wall uses fewer bricks than a straight one, but it's true The "crinkle crankle" wall—that's really what it's called—is a testament to human ingenuity.
Learn about and/or join a citizen science project about how to increase joy and happiness in your life. How joyous is that??
Can little actions bring big joy? Researchers find 'micro-acts' can boost well-being A new citizen-scientist research project aims to test whether daily moments of awe, kindness and gratitude can make a real impact. Early results are promising. And it's not too late to join the study.
Still more work to do, u nfortunately!
Efforts to close gender interest gap in STEM must be stepped up, Gen Z survey shows | CNN Despite wide efforts to encourage more girls and young women to pursue careers in STEM, a new survey from Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation found Gen Z girls significantly lag behind boys in the level of interest expressed in STEM subjects, suggesting more must be done to close the gender gap.
Edheads' supporters donated $7,225 and with matches, that comes to $15,647! Thanks to all of you that helped! Have a fabulous new year!!
We are getting closer to our goal! Currently at $7225 of $10,000. We still have a 3:1 match for the rest of the week, if you'd like to donate. We'd get $4 for every dollar you donated - you dollar and the three matching dollars!
We are closer to our goal. Currently at $6874 of $10,000. We didn't reach our one-day goal of $1,500. But we are still excited about hitting a highest ever one-day total yesterday. Remember, we still have a 3:1 match for the rest of the week, if you'd like to donate. We'd get $4 for every dollar you donated - you dollar and the three matching dollars!
Short break from fundraising to check out a fascinating video. I LOVE octopi! Hopefully, you do, too!
Watch pet octopus complete complex obstacle course, earning her return to home in the wild Sashimi showed Mark Rober she could thrive in the ocean after getting used to being hand-fed at the pet store.
We are nearing our fundraising goal of $10,000 with $6,275 donated so far. Matching is 3:1 for December 26-31, and if you donate Dec 27th, and we can raise a one-day total of $1,500, we get $4,000!! Please donate!
We are nearing our fundraising goal of $10,000 with $6,025 in so far. If you have the means, please consider donating today via Facebook 'donate' button this page, Givebutter, text ‘EDHEADS23’ to 53-555, or scan the QR code.
We have some exciting donation matching news:
* One donor is matching all your donations all this month 2 to 1!
** Another donor is matching all donations December 26-31, making our match this week 3 to 1!!
*** Yet another donor agreed to give us $4,000 if we can raise a one-day total of $1,500 on December 27th!! (Before donor matching but after company matching.)
If your company also matches your donations, please let us know. We are happy to help with the paperwork.
So, if you donate $25 on December 27th, Edheads will get a total of $100 from your donation and donor matching -- $125 if your company also matches your donation -- and we will also have a shot at the extra $4,000. Potentially, your $25 donation could net Edheads $4,125! That's enough to convert another game from Flash to HTML5, or keep Edheads operating for 2 months!
Every little bit helps -- thanks for your consideration.
