You don’t have to live on a farm to qualify for a USDA loan. In fact, an area with a population of 35,000 or less can be considered “rural” by the USDA. (If you WANT to live on a farm, don't let your dreams be dreams.) 🌽

🚨 Pre-approved and getting ready to house shop? Huzzah! But also TIMEOUT: Now that you're pre-approved, you want to be mindful of the credit profile your pre-approval is based on. Don't apply for new credit, max out or overcharge existing cards or consolidate debt unless okayed by your loan officer.

The volatility of the housing market in 2022 is far from over as it appears we may have passed the peak of existing home prices—or at least, we won’t move much higher. Will homebuyers be lured back into the housing market as home prices get pared back?

Don't sweat it! Well, DO sweat it, just a little. 😅 Sweat Equity refers to inexpensive home improvements that add value, like painting the kitchen cabinets or putting inexpensive tile in the entryway.
The house itself isn’t the only thing you’ll be paying for when you become a homeowner. Make sure you have money set aside for closing costs and inspections and add taxes, insurance and HOA fees into your budget. 💵🏠

Most of the time...no! You don't always need to 20% down to buy a house. Some loans allow you to go down to 3.5%, while others might require 0% down. It all depends on your credit score, whether or not you're a first-time buyer and what type of loan you choose. Talk with a Movement loan officer to see what options are available to you!

We're declaring it: "Budget" is not a bad word. Creating a budget helps you make intentional decisions about where your money goes and helps your money work FOR you instead of AGAINST you. Don't resist the budget. Resist the leftover pizza that's been in your fridge since last month. Actually don't resist that — just toss it. 😝
Market volatility pushed rates back up over the last week, but sentiment within housing is shifting in a significant way.
We give you all the details inside the latest Market Update: https://blog.movement.com/2022/08/12/inflation-softens-slightly-sellers-becoming-less-confident/
Lenders finance loans temporarily and then transfer or sell the loan to a servicer after closing. Servicers then manage your monthly payments. At Movement, we simplify the process – we're the lender AND the servicer. (Or as we say it, we're the shake AND the bake.)
Who doesn't love the idea of passive income? It can be an incredible way to build personal wealth while sitting on your own sofa. Before you enter Landlord Land, here are a few things you'll want to do first.
It’s been a rough six months for potential homebuyers but the tides are turning in a big way. For the first time since July 2019, we saw an annual increase in the number of homes for sale.

With QM, short for Qualified Mortgage, borrowers must meet certain requirements related to their ability to repay, and lenders must keep interest and fees within certain limits. Mortgages without all these requirements are Non-QM. Talk to your Movement loan officer to learn more. (They’ll be really impressed that you already know what QM means!) 😏
We love you unconditionally. But getting pre-approved for a mortgage does come with some conditions, which are tasks that need to be completed or paperwork you need to provide before a lender can fund your home loan. (Remember: This doesn't mean we love you any less.)
It’s easy to look at 2022’s housing market as a recession, especially when you’re coming back down from historic highs. But slowing demand now could mean a much healthier, less volatile mortgage world in the coming months. What does the data say?
We break it down for you in our latest Market Update: https://blog.movement.com/2022/07/29/perspective-key-assessing-housing-economic-data/
When you buy a home, you'll probably want to tell everyone. (Because YOU BOUGHT A HOME! 🎉) Make sure you tell the government, too. Your county will want to keep a record of the purchase, which comes with a recording fee that'll show up in your closing costs. Ask your Movement loan officer for more deets!
Choosing to take on a mortgage DOES come with some financial responsibility, and you want to be EXTRA SURE you’re up for it. And if you are? Getting those keys in your hand to YOUR NEW HOME…there’s no feeling quite like it. 🔑🙌

The volatility of the current economic situation continues to force constant change in mortgage rates. Economists were hit with a gut punch when the latest government data showed inflation rising at its fastest pace since 1981.

Contingencies are like asterisks on an offer to buy a home. They're clauses that give buyers the right to back out of their contract under specified circumstances. They protect the buyer 😃 but turn off sellers 😖. In today's tight market, work with your Movement Loan Officer and Realtor to limit the contingencies you put on an offer.
Loan interest can add up over time — even with low interest rates. The good news is that there are some super simple yet smart ways to sneakily cut down on how much you pay in interest and save yourself thousands of dollars in the long run. And why WOULDN’T you want to be a smart, sneaky money saver?
It looks like the mortgage industry might finally be on a path to normalization. Elevated home prices and higher interest rates has started to quell the demand which is allowing inventory to start coming back.
