🌸 Anesthesia can cause anxiety for many of our patients. When patients arrive on surgery day, Dr. Liu, our board certified anesthesiologist, meets with each patient to reassure them that general anesthesia is extremely safe! It’s actually safer than getting in your car and driving home. Dr. Liu is with you every step of the way before, during, and after.⁣⁣
✅ Will I wake up at all during surgery?⁣
💫 Awareness or “waking up” is highly, highly unlikely. Dr. Liu uses her machine and expertise to monitor the patient the entire time. She knows that they are not aware because she is watching all of the physiological parameters throughout the procedure.⁣⁣
✅ How will I feel after?⁣
💫 It’s normal to feel groggy and sleepy after surgery. About 10% of patients will experience nausea, but Dr. Liu likes to give antiemetics in surgery to help with this. She tells patients: when you get home, try to get comfortable and sleep it off. The anesthetic will leave your system by the next day.⁣⁣

🌸 This question is very common at our consultations! Breast implants are not designed to last forever, however the every-10-year expression is a myth! Dr. Ching doesn’t recommend revising your implants unless you are experiencing a complication or want to improve the shape of your current augmentation. Some of the patients we see have had their implants for 20-30 years!

⭐The main concern with working out after your augmentation is overusing the pectoral muscles. We want our patients to use these muscles minimally while they are healing.⁣
💯 This means, no lifting anything heavier than 10lbs for the first 4 weeks. Lower body exercises, without weights, are fine at two weeks post op.⁣⁣
🏄🏼‍♀️ We recommend staying out of the water for 2 - 4 weeks after surgery. We want your incisions to heal before you are submerged in water.⁣⁣

You will check in 1 hour prior to your surgical time and meet with our team of nurses. Once they get you set up and comfortable in our recovery center, you will meet with our amazing anesthesiologist, Dr. Liu!
She will walk you through the whole process and answer any questions you might have. After that, its time for markings! Dr. Ching will again go over the surgical plan with you and draw in his guidelines on your body for the surgery.

What are the advantages of an armpit incision?

Dr Ching favors the armpit incision because:

The scar is practically invisible, as the incision is placed at the top of the armpit in a natural crease.
Sensation of the ar**la and ni**le is usually preserved, unlike when the incision is placed at the lower edge of the ar**la or next to the ni**le.
Damage to the breast is avoided. Incisions on the breast can damage the ability of the breast to produce milk after childbirth.
The risk of infection and capsular contracture (hardening of the breasts) is lower.

A Halo Lift is used to reduce the ar**la size and simultaneously lift the breast. Excess skin is removed around the ar**la to raise the breast while also raising the position of the ni**le.
