$15.3M funding fuels microelectronics innovation | University of Hawaiʻi System News The UH Mānoa team will focus on training students and interns on microfabrication techniques as well as integrated circuit design and testing.
Congratulations to Dr. Roger Babcock for being recognized by the ASCE for the excellence he has demonstrated in the field of civil engineering. Dr. Babcock currently directs the wastewater and solid waste utilities for the City & County of Honolulu. Dr. Babcock’s civil engineering contributions through leadership include work throughout his career and through his participation in professional organizations, like ASCE, as well as in his community; he says, “being a civil engineer for 30+ years has been an amazing, fun, and satisfying adventure.”
Our very own Prof. Joseph Brown is a co-investigator on a recently awarded $4.2 million NSF grant to address clean energy challenges, incorporating sustainable solutions, Native Hawaiian knowledge, and high school student engagement! 👏

UH mechanical engineering student Keoni Mabini has been selected as one of just 24 students nationwide to join the 2025 Minority Student Fellows Program by the Transportation Research Board (TRB). He will present his research on sustainable transportation at the TRB annual meeting in Washington, D.C., this January. His project, “Evidence-based Assessments of Electrified Transportation Evolvements for Future Sustainable Mobility,” explores how legislation and incentives are shaping the future of electric vehicles.
