Our dedicated teachers are learning the Slingerland Approach during their summer break. The Slingerland Approach helps teachers teach reading and writing in a way that works well for children, especially those with dyslexia. It uses a mix of sight, sound, and touch to make learning easier. This method helps students remember and understand better, improving their school performance.

In summer school, kindergarten to eighth-grade students use Club Invention kits to design a project using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills. The fifth and sixth-grade students are making a flying electronic bird to learn about the circuitry that makes them fly, the bird’s beak, and flight patterns with the E-bird kit. Other students are using kits called Plot Coasters, Bot Ann-e, National Inventors Hall of Fame’s in the Attic, and Champions. These third and fourth graders are making their vehicles with the Road Rally kit.
Today, we honor Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the end of slavery in the United States. Let's reflect on the progress and recognize the work still needed to achieve equality. There is no summer school or summer camp today. .
