Let's all give a rousing "hip, hip, hooray" for one of our saxophone extraordinaires, Musician 2nd Class Sam Detweiler!

Detweiler was presented the Colonel Finley R. Hamilton Outstanding Military Musician Award for his exceptional musicianship and leadership.

Colonel Hamilton had an illustrious 35-year career as a conductor in the U.S. Army Bands Program and was an active member of the American Bandmasters Association. After passing away from cancer in 2009, the Colonel Finley R. Hamilton Outstanding Military Musician Award was created to honor his memory and impact on military music. Every year, this award is presented to one distinguished musician from each of the U.S. Armed Forces bands.
