Alison Jaeger received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Colorado State University in 2014 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Touro University Nevada in 2018. She started her career working as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist in Las Vegas, Nevada where she focused on treatment of conservative orthopedic injuries and post-operative patients. She began her specialization as a pelvic floor physical therapist in Las Vegas in 2020. Since moving back to her childhood home in Honolulu in 2022, Alison has continued her pelvic therapy and women’s health specialization at Hawaii Pelvic Therapy. She combines her orthopedic and biomechanical knowledge to treat women with complex, and often co-existing, orthopedic and pelvic floor conditions. She enjoys learning and implementing evidence-based techniques in clinical practice as well as pursuing on-going education in pelvic and women’s health. She is ecstatic to continue her work at Hawaii Pelvic Therapy, working tirelessly with women of all ages and stages of life with the goal “that no woman feels overlooked or underserved”. When she is not working with patients, Alison enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time at the beach with her family and 2 dogs.

In other countries, like France, women’s postpartum recovery is valued in healthcare and pelvic physical therapy is a regular part of postpartum recovery. All women should have access to proper postpartum support . 💪🏼 Write to our State Representative to support Bill 8181 to ensure proper postpartum care for the women of Hawaii and across our country. Link to our state representative and letter in the comments below.
The rumors are true. In places like France, pelvic physical therapy is a regular part of postpartum care. In fact, they believe in it so strongly, that one of my patients, who was a French citizen, would send her physical therapy bills back to the French government to get reimbursed for her care here in our clinic, even though she was residing in Hawaii. Now that is a commitment to the health of your citizens. All women should have the same access to proper postpartum healthcare. Write to our State Representative to support Bill 8181 to ensure proper postpartum care for the women of Hawaii and across our country.
Ask Your Representative to Cosponsor H.R. 8181 and Raise Awareness of the Importance of Postpartum Care Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wa.) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) introduced the Optimizing Postpartum Outcomes (OPO) Act (H.R. 8181), APTA-supported bipartisan legislation that will raise awareness of the availability and importance of pelvic...

“But experts are quick to point out that pelvic floor PT has benefits that go far beyond training and retraining muscles that endured the trauma of birth. In fact, about 13 percent of women who have never given birth have pelvic floor dysfunction. And pelvic floor therapy can provide unique benefits to runners.”

The #1 reason for failure to progress with your therapy? Not being consistent with your home program. I hear it day in and day out, patient after patient. “I just didn’t have the time?” But I promise, ✅ check your priorities, put you first, combine activities where you can and success will come. 🔥 Watching TV? Drop and do some push-ups. Listen to your audiobook while you run. Have to catch up with a friend? Forego the sitting for lunch and meet for a hike together instead. Don’t have enough time for everything, just do everything at one time! 😜
Bridges are an essential part of a good prenatal program. But sometimes they can cause hamstring and glute cramps when there is a muscular imbalance. For a quick fix: put your feet up on blocks, a stool, a ball, or on the wall to keep overactive muscles from taking over and causing cramping. For a real fix, get evaluated by a pelvic physical therapist or other physical therapist. We are movement specialists! 💪🏼🏃♀️👏
