We are thrilled to announce a new volunteer opportunity! The Battenberg's Martial Arts & Fitness team needs assistance during their classes for the Villagers at our Day Program.

Before you volunteer, you must have completed the Volunteer Online Application and submitted the Required Volunteer Forms within one calendar year. The application and forms can be found on our website - www.thevillagecenters.org/volunteer

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS WITH DISABILITIES!!!

Each year in October, the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) produces a poster for Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) featuring art created by a Texas artist with a disability.

Submit Your Art Entry for the 2024 Disability Employment Awareness Month Poster Art Competition by June 30th! This year's national theme is "Access to Good Jobs for All".

Original 2D art (including but not limited to paintings or drawings), and 3D art (including but not limited to sculpture or pottery) in all media are eligible. The Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities will have the final authority as to what constitutes an acceptable entry.

Entries:
Each artist should submit an entry in one of the following formats:
• a digital image on USB flash drive or CD (.jpg or .gif file) or,
• a high-resolution photograph of the artwork, or
• an electronic version attached to an email to [email protected]

Or the entry can be submitted by U.S. mail to the following address:

Unfortunately, our GO ASTROS Community Dance scheduled for today, Saturday, May 18th, has been Canceled due to power outages.

Our next Community Dance will be on Saturday, June 15th.

Join us for a specialized 4-week course tailored to empower neurodiverse individuals through the art of visual design using Canva. Participants will learn how to navigate the Canva platform, utilizing its user-friendly tools and features to create stunning graphics, presentations, social media posts, and more.

Computers will be provided for participants to use during the class. Participants will receive a certificate of completion for the course from Inspire ND. Class is limited to 6 participants! Including Kids, Inc. Empower Behavioral Health Project Beacon Texas

Some of The Village Center’s members came out to volunteer at HAAM yesterday. They were a great help getting snack packs and hygiene packs together and we can’t wait to have them back!

Villagers and volunteers from the Holocaust Remembrance Association worked together to paint rocks for the Garden of Hope located in Kings Harbor. This project seeks to paint a memorial stone for each of the 1.5 million children who lost their lives during the Holocaust.
