As trichology educators at AAHSD, it's important to understand how medications like Ozempic (semaglutide) can impact more than just weight loss. Ozempic disrupts gut function and alters how nutrients are absorbed into our cells, often leading to nutritional deficiencies.
For example, B12 plays a crucial role in creating red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. A deficiency in B12, as seen with some Ozempic users, can result in an inability to breathe comfortably due to enlarged red blood cells struggling to move through the bloodstream. This can potentially lead to anemia and other systemic issues, as we see with Macy Gray’s experience.
At AAHSD, we teach that trichology is about understanding the whole body, not just the hair. Functional Trichology gives professionals the knowledge to recognize these underlying imbalances.
