INTRODUCING OUR DUNCAN COLLEGE NSRS:
Hey everyone! My name is Meara McCarthy and I'm a freshman at Duncan. A few fun facts about me are that I'm from Oakland, California, speak French, ride horses, and love musical theater. I'm super excited to be a New Student Representative because I love working with people! I can't wait to hear everyone's ideas and work as a liaison between my peers and the Rice community to make positive changes toward a universal goal.
Hey y’all, I’m Amogh Varanasi! I am a freshman at Duncan College, originally from Denver, Colorado. I am majoring in Neuroscience on a pre-medical track. I’m excited to work with the Student Association to help make Rice University a more equitable and accessible campus.
TOMORROW We’re collaborating with .ssi and to host cooking demonstrations, especially for off-campus students! WE WILL BE IN MARTEL KITCHEN AND SPACE IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 15 PEOPLE! See y’all at 12!

INTRODUCING OUR STUDENT ASSOCIATION EXTERNAL VICE PRESIDENT:
Hey everyone

Rice Student Association
The Student Association began in 1919 after Rice students decided that they needed to be able to govern themselves. Over the course of the last 100 years, the SA has worked tirelessly to improve student life. For example, in the early 1960’s the Senate voted to desegregate Rice, which began the university’s desegregation process. More recently. the SA has been responsible for helping implement the intramural sports program at Rice, creating the Critical Thinking in Sexuality Course, implementing Saturday Night Dinner, creating DACA.rice.edu, and more.
The SA is composed of all of the undergraduates of Rice University. It is led by the SA Exec team, which is composed of the SA President, Internal Vice President, External Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The legislative body of the SA is the Senate, which is composed of college presidents, college senators, and the SA exec team. In addition, the SA has appointed positions, standing committees, student initiative committees, temporary committees, and university standing committees.
To learn more about the organization, we encourage you to check out SA.rice.edu or attend one of our Senates, which are held every Monday night at 9 PM in Farnsworth Pavilion.
