It's a great day to be a Wolf!
Dr. Chelsea Pope Collins named next Head of St. Francis Episcopal School.
In accepting the appointment, Dr. Collins said, “I want to thank the St. Francis Episcopal School Community for the warm and gracious welcome during my visit last month. Although I was familiar with the school, my time on campus reaffirmed my connection to the community and what I knew to be a wonderful place to call home. My decision to return to my hometown of Houston was influenced by SFES students’ achievements, the faculty’s expertise, the parents’ engagement, and the community’s steadfast commitment to being people for others. As the incoming Head of School, I am excited to advance the mission and enhance the SFES experience, embrace ongoing opportunities for growth, and celebrate the unique beauty of a community of inclusion. My daughter, Langston, and I are elated to join the SFES community and feel blessed to start this newest chapter in our lives at a place I know firsthand to be a beacon of excellence.”

We are sad to share the passing of former early childhood and lower school teacher Mary Hamby, who was a member of St. Francis for over 40 years.
According to her daughter, “St. Francis was her home away from home. Her students adored her, and my mom made a lifetime of memories and friendships with her fellow teachers at St. Francis.” Mary was not only an incredible teacher but also a devoted mother, grandmother, Native Houstonian and cherished friend.
She passed away on Wednesday, June 9th at the age of 79 at her home in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her family and close friends, after putting up an incredibly hard, 14-month fight with cancer. We are grateful for the legacy that Mary left at St. Francis and send our thoughts and prayers to the Hamby family.
Mary’s obituary can be found at: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/houstonchronicle/name/mary-hamby-obituary?id=12885697

Fall sports are in full swing! While our 6th/7th grade football team suffered a tough loss yesterday, it didn't dampen their spirits or their excitement to play on our beautiful, new turf field! Who remembers playing for their SFES team?
