Art Factory proudly presents a riveting new production of Andrew Lippa’s THE WILD PARTY!
Based on the 1928 poem by Joseph Moncure March, THE WILD PARTY plunges audiences into an era of decadence, passion, and uninhibited lust. Brace yourselves as you meet Queenie, a bombshell Vaudeville dancer, and her sadistic clown boyfriend, Burrs. When she feels the flame between them start to flicker out and Burrs’ violent nature rears its ugly head, Queenie plots to publicly humiliate him in front of all of their closest acquaintances at a party to end all parties. As the bathtub gin gets sloshed around their crowded apartment, the arrival of a mysterious stranger turns Queenie’s plans on their head. Emotions are high and the guests are higher as the party spirals out of her control. The seven deadly sins hang in the smokey air, but who will atone?
This raucous and thought-provoking musical, with a lavish score and book by Andrew Lippa, stars Crystyl Swanson as Queenie, Colton Berry as Burrs, Ramaj Jamar as Mr. Black, and Victoria Ritchie as Kate. The cast of denizens also features Sarah Beth Sims as Madelaine True, Luke J. Hamilton and Diego Cotte as Oscar and Phil D’Armano, Robby Black as Eddie, Amber Cossette as Mae, Christine Mompoint as Delores, Nate McGilvray as Sam, Abbi Rodrigue as Nadine, Ryan Perez as Jackie, and Sam Lank as Max. Completing the exquisitely talented cast are Kariyana Chanté, Nicole Ercan, Katy McCants, Sethe Nguyen, Nicole Peach, Elizabeth Chrisman Shurtz, Athena Try, and Stephanie Welder. THE WILD PARTY is directed and choreographed by Luke J. Hamilton, with music direction by Jane Volke, stage management by Ashley M. Frye, and production design by Colton Berry.
THE WILD PARTY runs September 13 through 29, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday performances at 5:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.ArtFactoryHouston.com/tickets , or at the door. Art Factory is located just north of downtown at The Docks, 1125 Providence Street. Free onsite parking is available.
