This year marks more than seven years of collaboration between ExxonMobil and the Tapia Center for Excellence and Equity in Education at Rice.

Thanks to Bayzhan Mukatay, a senior in operations research, Rice University now has a student operations research club.
Bayzhan, along with a group of other seniors in the leadership team, launched the student chapter of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the largest operations research professional organization in the world.

Welcome to the Department of Computational and Applied Mathematics (CAAM) at Rice! The CAAM department is a close-knit community of faculty and students working toward solving challenges through applied mathematics, with the support of a staff dedicated to the department's mission. The CAAM faculty at Rice are leading researchers with international reputations. There are cutting-edge research activities in inverse problems, discrete and continuous optimization, computational neuroscience, partial differential equations (PDE), PDE constrained optimization and large-scale numerical linear algebra.
