As we prepare to celebrate our nation's independence with fireworks displays, it's crucial to remember the safety and legal aspects of using fireworks.
Every year, thousands of people, including many children and young adults, suffer injuries from fireworks — even seemingly harmless sparklers burn at 2,000 degrees, hot enough to melt some metals. Additionally, fireworks that malfunction or are used improperly start an average of 19,000 fires each year.
That’s why our team put together a short list of tips to keep in mind as we approach the holiday. Share this post as a helpful reminder to your network, and give us a call anytime if questions or needs arise.
Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, which honors the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
This day serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the African American community, while providing an opportunity for all Americans to consider how we can make our society more just and equitable.
With that said, we invite you to join us in celebrating and commemorating this important day. And please note our office will be closed today in observance of Juneteenth.
Should you have any questions or needs during this time, feel free to reach out via email or leave a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as we return.
We are often asked if shifts in child custody schedules can lead to temporary changes in child support payments.

Houston Expanded Standard Possession Order Lawyer
https://alsandorlaw.com/houston-expanded-standard-possession-order-lawyer/
Custody cases can be very costly, not just because of the dollars spent, but also because of the emotional expense and the time it takes from one’s life. Many times, a noncustodial parent will come to me wanting custody of their child because they have not been able to exercise their court-ordered visitation with their child. What I advise that parent to do is to follow the court order all the way to the custodial parent’s door. What does that mean?
Advice From a Houston Child Custody Lawyer
https://alsandorlaw.com/advice-from-a-houston-child-custody-lawyer/
One of the first things an experienced Houston child custody lawyer will advise you is that a divorce with children does not end the spousal relationship. Rather, the spouses remain entangled by virtue of being co-parents of the children until they are grown… and perhaps beyond.
How are Assets Divided in a Divorce?
https://alsandorlaw.com/houston-asset-division-attorney
In the United States, somewhere between 40 and 50 percent of married couples get divorced. No one gets married with the intention of one day pulling the plug, but sometimes it makes more sense to part ways than to stay together.

If you’ve been following us for a while, then you’ll know that we’ve been debunking common adoption myths 🧐 For our last myth, we wanted to cover one we hear pretty often:
“Adoption takes forever! Or at least, several years.”
This simply isn’t true 🙅 The majority of adoptions in the United States take 1-12 months from the child being eligible for adoption to finalization. How long it takes depends on a variety of factors, but if you’re determined, then those months will be worth it.
We truly hope this series has helped anyone who is interested in adoption! And of course, if you’re in need of legal assistance regarding adoption, know that we are here and happy to help 👪💛
Adoption can be a difficult process, and it doesn’t help that there are plenty of myths out there to confuse you. 😣 But fear not, we’re here to help – on social media (and in person if you need us!).
Today, as part of our adoption myth series, we’re focusing on another common one: “Open adoptions always confuse the child.”
This is wrong ❌ Open adoptions can help children with identity issues by giving them access to their biological parent(s). And ahead of the adoption, you can create an agreement noting boundaries and expectations. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing!
Open adoptions aren’t for everyone, but they work well for many families.
With that adoption myth busted, is there another one that gets under your skin? Share in the comments ⬇️ And while you’re at it, make sure you’re following us to see our final myth
If you’re thinking of adopting, there are plenty of myths you hear that could scare you away 😰 But that’s why we’re here – to make sure our clients go through the adoption confidently and with all the facts they need.
Today, let’s tackle this one: “The birth mother can come back and try to reclaim the child.”
This is 100% false 🙅 When a birth mother places their baby up for adoption, they legally relinquish and sign over their parental rights. Once you adopt, the child is yours, and the birth mother has no right to reclaim the child. Fostering, of course, is a different story.
To those of you who are considering adoption, know that we are here to help 👪 Feel free to reach out if you have questions, and stay tuned as we continue addressing some more common adoption myths!
Over the years, we’ve heard a lot of harmful adoption myths. 🤨 So, for the next while, we want to help bust some of them, starting with this one:
“I can’t adopt because I’m not married.”
This is completely false ❌ The qualifications for adoption do vary by state. But generally speaking, if you are an adult fit to take care of a child and are fully committed to the adoption, you can adopt!
Adoption is a beautiful way to add a member to your family 💛 If you have questions regarding adoption, feel free to reach out to us – we would love to help you through the process!
Make sure you’re following us to see the other common myths we’ll be tackling 👀
