Is your teen aware of the responsibilities of being a driver? 👀
Teen drivers are about 25% more likely to be in a car crash, and drivers under 20 are three times more likely to crash than the general population. Here are some eye-opening facts:
🚗 Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens.
🚙 Teens aged 16-19 have the highest crash rate of any age group.
🚗 60% of teen crashes are due to distracted driving.
🚙 The top distraction? Other passengers, causing 15% of teen driver crashes, compared to 12% from texting or talking on a cell phone.
🚗 In 2020, about 8 teens died and hundreds were injured in crashes each day.
🚙 44% of teen crash deaths occurred between 9 pm and 6 am, and 50% happened on weekends in 2020.
🚗 56% of teen drivers and passengers killed in 2020 crashes were not wearing seat belts.
These stats aren't meant to scare you but to prepare you and your teen! Think Excellence Academy's ‘Teen Safe Driving Experience’ uses simulation goggles to visually impair vision, mimicking drunk driving effects with levels from .07 to .20.
