⚠Construction Update at Rescued Pets Movement⚠

We’re making significant progress on the repairs and improvements at our facility! Here’s where things stand:

🛠️ Painting and sheetrock repairs are halfway done. We’ve completed the work in the lobby, Foster Coordinator area, Dog Quarantine, Puppy room, and GP rooms, with just a few more areas left to finish.

🛠️ The Vet Tech rooms have brand-new floors after water damage destroyed the old ones. We’ve also replaced all the ceiling tiles in the lobby, Vet Tech rooms, and bathrooms, which were all damaged by water.

🛠️ Drainage work in our back lot is expected to start by next week. This will help alleviate the standing water issues in our transport alleyway and dog runs whenever it rains.

🛠️ Both Vet Tech rooms have been insulated, and new lights have been installed. The rest of the clinic will be re-insulated soon, as we work out the scheduling.

As many of you know, Hurricane Beryl hit us hard, and sadly, our beloved shed at BARC didn't make it through the storm. This shed was more than just storage; it was a vital space where our amazing temp test volunteers kept crates, treats, leashes, and all those fun costumes you see our euth list dogs dressed up in. Because of our amazing supporters, we raised enough money to rebuild our shed! Now we need help to restock it!

Meet Olive, a sweet, wiggly little pup who’s captured all our hearts here at Rescued Pets Movement.

Olive and her sister Martini were brought to the shelter by a good Samaritan. Despite being only 4 months old, Olive has already faced a challenge that no puppy should have to endure—she has a badly fractured front right leg.

Although Olive's leg is hanging on by a thread, you wouldn’t know it from her spirit! She was bouncing off the walls, playing with toys, and begging for treats. Olive is the wiggliest, happiest pup, but her injury is serious.

After taking her for x-rays, the vet confirmed that the fracture in Olive’s leg is severe, and the best course of action is to amputate. We know that this surgery is the best way to relieve her pain and give her the chance to live the joyful, active life she deserves. But we can’t do it without your help.

We need to raise $500 to cover the cost of Olive’s surgery, and we’re asking for your support. Every dollar you donate will go directly towards giving Olive a pain-free future❤

August 17th and 18th Petco Love is hosting Houston’s fourth Mega Adoption Event!

Over 1,000 wonderful furry companions will be looking for their forever home – big dogs, small dogs, senior pets, puppies and kittens.
The adoption fee is just $35, and you’ll take your new family member home with you the same day you visit. All animals will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

We’ve raised $3,350 so far, but we still need your help!

Dogs like Menudo, a recent medical case pup we saved, rely on us to provide the critical care they need. But right now, our facility—where we treat and save pets like him—is in desperate need of repair.

Thanks to your support, we’re getting closer to our minimum $20,000 goal, but we’re not there yet. With the roof finally repaired, we’re ready to start the much-needed interior work, but we can’t move forward without your help.

The derecho windstorm and Hurricane Beryl left our building with water-damaged ceilings, mold, and critical issues in our vet tech rooms and parvovirus quarantine room. These spaces are where we provide lifesaving care to the animals who need it most, and they’re in bad shape.

Over the last 11 years, Rescued Pets Movement has saved nearly 90,000 dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters, giving them a second chance at life. But today, our facility—our lifeline for these animals—needs your help.

This year, a derecho windstorm and Hurricane Beryl caused severe damage to our facility. Much of the building has water-damaged ceilings, and extensive repairs are needed due to water intrusion and mold.

Our vet tech rooms and parvovirus quarantine room—where we provide lifesaving medical care—suffered the worst damage. There are portions where the walls and ceilings are ruined, the floors are beyond repair, and there is even a door that is swollen and immovable from water damage.Restoring these critical areas is essential to maintaining our operations and ensuring the health and safety of the animals we care for.

Back in July 2023, we shared a story about rescuing 22 dogs from the euthanasia list at BARC in just one day. Among those saved were Morry and Juniper. After receiving much-needed TLC in a Houston foster home, these sweet dogs made their way to Colorado, where they found their forever homes!

Fast forward a year, Morry and Juniper were enjoying their new lives at a dog park in Colorado when their owners struck up a conversation. To their amazement, they discovered both dogs had been rescued from Houston, and even more astonishingly, from the rescue, on the same day!

Stories like this remind us why we do what we do. We are so happy that Morry, Juniper, and many other animals are now living the lives they always deserved!❤

⚠️RPM CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS DAY 6⚠️

Yesterday we started on the dog general population (GP) roof and found one VERY corroded purlin along our gutter between the two roofs. It took most of the day to replace due to its tricky location…

The rest of the purlins were in good enough condition to not be replaced, but we were slowed down by how bad the purlin by the gutter was!

The insulation over GP in many spots was very moldy from leaks in the old roof, so we are replacing all of it.

All in all, we are making progress!! Thank you for your unwavering support!❤️
