Pixar Putt, the ultimate pop-up, open-air mini-golf experience has returned to Discovery Green! The experience is made up of 18 fun & interactive holes inspired by the stories, characters and icons from some of Pixar’s favorite films. Available now until January 20! Save the date! Atlas by Jen Lewin, our new winter art installation, will soon be illuminating Discovery Green. The 24 handcrafted & hand-painted etheral glowing moths will be suspended from the trees of the Brown Promenade, reacting to the sound and movement of visitors. ATLAS, a new interactive art installation is coming to Discovery Green this winter! 📣
ATLAS, by internationally recognized artist Jen Lewin, is an interactive public art installation featuring 24 handcrafted and hand-painted glowing moths suspended from trees along the Brown Promenade. When the idea of creating a dynamic green space out of the parking lots on the eastern edge of downtown was first presented, it was viewed as a bold and somewhat risky venture. Today, however, Discovery Green® is considered a tremendous success and one of America’s finest urban parks. Over the past 10 years, Discovery Green has become a place of gathering, reflection, and celebration. With activities from exercise classes, local concerts and family movies, to cultural celebrations and festivals like Super Bowl LIVE and the NCAA Final Four Music Festival, Discovery Green has become an icon of the City of Houston seen around the world.
As we approach our 10th year in 2018, our mission remains the same: to operate an urban park that serves as a village green, a source of health and happiness for our citizens, and a window into the diverse talents and traditions that enrich life in Houston.
