All of us at RMHC Greater Houston were cheering for John Metchie in Saturday’s Houston Texans -New York preseason game. Metchie has conquered many off-the-field challenges, like being diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. But he has battled through and found a way to continue his football career. More than that, Metchie has shared his love, encouragement and enthusiasm with families at Holcombe House who are facing their own health challenges. Best wishes for a great season!!
Orbit landed at Holcombe House! Our favorite green fuzzball brought smiles to faces and even joined in on arts and crafts. Special thanks to CenterPoint Energy for hosting the evening.

Nathan and his family are excited to celebrate the end of his treatment! After 816 nights at Holcombe House, the Adedeji Family is going home! During their stay with us, his sister celebrated her 10th birthday - a milestone year in Nigerian culture, his brother turned 18 and graduated high school, and Nathan turned 16. We are honored to have been part of their journey and are so happy for them!
What a season these men played! We were so honored to be part of the Houston SaberCats Rugby 2024 season which came to a close on July 20th in the Major League Rugby Semi-Finals. Although their season was cut short, every SaberCat player and volunteer is a hero and a champion to the families at Ronald McDonald House!
During the 2024 season, the SaberCats and the Saber Bros fan club hosted parties and served food at Holcombe House. They also invited our families to attend their games and highlighted one of our kiddos as their honorary captain at each of their home games. In addition, they showed up in force at our annual 5k/10k Run for the House and decorated a rugby-themed holiday tree for our lobby.
Thank you so much for the wonderful memories and we can’t wait to support you again in 2025!
Thank you to the The Smilin' Rylen Foundation for this amazing donation! We love being a part of the run again, which is held each year in memory of Rylen. 🧡
We’re so blessed to be able to hand over another check, this time to Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston for $13,000 from the funds raised from our 7th Annual Smilin’ Rylen Run! We had a great time meeting up at Howdy Homemade Ice Cream Katy, TX! RMHCofGH does amazing things in providing housing for families while receiving long term medical care in the Houston medical center! What a major role this plays for families that need to be near to the medical center during treatment. Thank you to all that support the mission of The Smilin' Rylen Foundation in aiding families in need! 🧡🧡🧡

Our Ronald McDonald Houses on Holcombe Blvd and inside Texas Children’s Hospital, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and M.D. Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital are staffed 365 days of the year. During Beryl, our staff members from different departments weathered the storm away from their own homes and families, stepped up to cover each other’s shifts, stayed long past their hours, and made sure our families and facilities were secure and cared for. We are united in our mission to keep families close, and we couldn’t do it without our amazing staff who walk the journey alongside the families we serve.
We were so lucky to have the Astros Foundation make a delicious dinner for our families tonight!
URGENT: Our RMHC Greater Houston families are safe from Hurricane Beryl, but we need your help now more than ever. Holcombe House is at full capacity, and countless families at our hospital locations rely on us for meals. Our supplies are running dangerously low.
We urgently need individually packaged ready-to-eat, shelf-stable food that can be consumed without heating—like tuna meal kits, peanut butter crackers, and breakfast bars. Every donation counts! Together, we can ensure that our families can focus on their seriously ill child – and not when they will get their next meal.
Our staff is all-hands-on-deck to accept donations at 1907 Holcombe Blvd, Houston TX 77030.
Thank you for your support! 🙏
