Duke, our 24 year old Mustang’s 2 week update - looking oh so good and got his pedicure yesterday. He’s a big boy! Largest Mustang I’ve ever seen. We will do a DNA on him just to see what all he may be!

Rescuing horses is a profound passion of mine, but the ultimate act of compassion is to release them from suffering with dignity and love.
While our work is imbued with immense joy, it is also marked by profound sorrow. The impending loss of one of our beloved animals next Monday weighs heavily upon me. It is a solemn duty to grant him peace as he transitions to a realm beyond pain.

To restore my spirit, I shall retreat to the Adirondacks for a brief respite with cherished friends. This will be the second such loss in a short period, and time alone with nature will aid in my healing.

In Loving Memory of Sailor

Today, we bid farewell to our beloved Sailor, a remarkable horse who touched our hearts in countless ways. Sailor was more than just a horse; he was a testament to resilience, grace, and the unbreakable bond between humans and animals.

From the moment he was rescued, Sailor showed a spirit that was both gentle and strong. He captured our hearts with his sweet nature and his undeniable charm. His presence brought joy to everyone at A Place for Peanut, Inc., and he became a symbol of hope and second chances.

Despite the battles he faced, Sailor remained a beacon of courage. He fought bravely over the past few days, but in the end, his heart could no longer bear the struggle. Though his time with us was cut short, his impact will be everlasting.

Sailor's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We will remember his soft nuzzles, the way his eyes sparkled with curiosity, and the gentle spirit that made him so special. He will forever be a part of our family, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to rescue and care for horses in need.
Rest in peace, dear Sailor. You will always be loved and never forgotten. 💔🐴

Thank you all for your continued donations as we pay for the vet bills and we are grateful for your prayers.

Our yearling, Mecom Sails Away aka “Sailor” was admitted to the hospital last night for emergency surgery. We need your prayers!

Many of you have asked for an update on Sailor: Sailor came out of surgery at midnight and is currently experiencing a difficult recovery. He is attempting to stand up, but his weakness is hindering his progress. He is currently receiving plasma. Thank you to the amazing team at Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals - Navasota

We are trying to raise funds for him and will do whatever it takes to save this yearling.

At A Place for Peanut, we strive to ensure every adopted horse receives the best possible start. This includes providing them with up-to-date vaccinations and a worming schedule.

Regarding Coggins tests: these are typically required for transport and are the adopter's responsibility.

We understand unforeseen circumstances may delay your horse's relocation. While we can offer temporary boarding for $750/month, space is limited. This fee covers feed, hay, supplements, stall care, and daily attention by our dedicated full-time caretaker.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely on donations to care for our horses. This monthly boarding fee helps us maintain that commitment.

Meet the Duke John Wayne- he’s a 24 year old gelding rounded up in NV as a yearling.
Not sure where he’s been all this time but it’s evident he was loved at some point.
We found him in a direct ship pen and gave him his freedom on Independence Day.
Last night he was picked up and went to quarantine - he comes home next weekend to finish his quarantine here along with lots of love

Congratulations to Willow & Aspen, a mother, son duo we saved from direct ship last October.
Our dear friend, Nancy who has adopted many from us just adopted these two! Happy Trails babies!

APFP was founded on a spirit of collaboration. Rescues across the board came together, forging valuable friendships in the process.

It's disheartening to see public negativity from other rescues who haven't sought understanding. We believe in positive action, and negativity doesn't serve the animals or the cause.

Together, we can do better!

Last October, we found Raquel in a direct ship pen in Kaufman, Tx waiting her fate.
Here she is with her new best friend in her forever loving home- I would say she’s super blessed! God is in the details!

Our gorgeous red roan Belgian found a new home today, a serene haven with endless green pastures. The black gelding, grieving the loss of his friend, was alone and forlorn until Raquel arrived. It was love at first sight, and they set off together, leaving behind their sadness and embarking on a new journey filled with joy and promise. Happy trails, beautiful girl!
