And he’s inviting YOU to get involved!

We are so excited to be featured on this month’s menus at all three Jonathan’s the Rub locations!
Dine-in at any Jonathan’s the Rub during the month of August, and order off of the special Kids’ Meals menu to support the fight to end childhood hunger.
For each lunch or brunch sold, $3 will be donated, and for each dinner sold, $5 will be donated.

📚 It’s back to school time! Today, hundreds of children in our program are embarking on their very first day of Kindergarten. Your generous support made it possible to enjoy free, nutritious lunches during their critical early years—ages 0-5—when 95% of their brain develops.

Our incredible Hunger Heroes went for the gold and set a new record in lunch packing! 🏅
Challenging themselves to beat the previous record of 7 carts in one shift, these volunteers from Astros Foundation andReliant Energy ® soared past it by completing 8 carts—with time to spare. That’s a remarkable 3,800 nutritious meals ready to be delivered to children facing food insecurity in our city!

The new headquarters will be able to hold more volunteers, store more food, pack more meals, and deliver more free, healthy lunches to the children in our community.
This new building will also serve as a hub for the community. Spaces like a cafe and event areas will not only offer venues for community events, fundraisers, and education programs, but will also symbolize our community’s collective effort in addressing childhood hunger.

Feeding Houston’s hungriest children

Kids' Meals’ mission is to end childhood hunger in Houston by delivering free, healthy meals, year-round to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children. We provide a nutritious, fresh meal each weekday for 250 delivery days each year to impoverished children under six years of age. We are the nation’s only home delivery meal program targeting preschool-aged children who’s rapidly developing bodies suffer the greatest impact from relentless hunger, costing our state and nation millions of dollars in preventable healthcare, education, workforce and human services costs.
Houston ranks third in the nation among major cities for children living with food insecurity, and Texas is a distant 43rd for children’s overall well-being with a devastating 25% of our child population living in poverty. Each weekday, Kids’ Meals delivers approximately 2,700 healthy lunches for an organizational cost of less than $2 per meal to our most vulnerable population, preschool-aged children who don’t have access to the free meal programs offered to school-aged children
Kids’ Meals alleviates the burden faced by families who have little means of obtaining consistent, healthy meals for their young children. Our 2018 goal is to deliver more than 700,000 lunches to children in need. We currently service six routes within Beltway 8, targeting 36 zip codes where the need is most critical.
