Alan and Susan Raymond’s AN AMERICAN FAMILY
Sat June 8th, 2024, at 6PM
Special One-time Screening plus Q&A with the Directors!
Advance tickets and more info available at: timeandspace.org/lance-loud/
Tickets $10 for TSL members, $12.50 for non-members.
TSL presents a double screening, featuring episode 2 of “An American Family” (1973) and its epilogue, “Lance Loud!: A Death In An American Family” (2003), followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, Susan and Alan Raymond.
Lance Loud was the first reality TV star for just being himself and inspired legions of young people to feel free to follow their dreams. He was the first openly gay person on television and became a trailblazer for the increasing acceptance of gays and lesbians in our society.
In 1973, the broadcast of An American Family, a 12-hour PBS documentary series, profiled the real life drama of the Loud family. American audiences watched in amazement as marital tensions between the parents lead to divorce while their eldest son Lance revealed his homosexuality. Today An American Family is recognized as one of The 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time and the birth of reality TV.
