New rules begin next week that will have significant impact for home buyers New rules will take effect that overhaul the way real estate agents get paid to help people buy and sell homes.

✍️ August is National Make-A-Will Month. To make sure your Will is legally valid in Alabama, it needs to meet a few requirements:

🔹 It must be written down.
🔹You need to sign it.
🔹Two people have to witness it according to the law.

If you get your Will notarized with a proper statement, it becomes a self-proving Will, which makes things easier.

This means you won’t need a court hearing to appoint a Personal Representative (the person who manages your estate), as long as all heirs agree and sign a Waiver.

🔍 You might have seen the headlines: Google just lost a major antitrust trial this week.

Today, a judge ruled that Google broke antitrust laws by using exclusive deals with Apple and others to block competitors. This decision shakes up Google’s dominance in the market.

So, what happens next? The court will now move into a new phase to decide on penalties and necessary changes. Google is likely to appeal this decision, and the case could eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

In Alabama, if you pass away without a will, your spouse will receive the first $100,000 of your estate, with the remaining assets divided according to state laws.

If your parents are alive, they will share the remaining assets with your spouse. If you have children, the assets will be allocated to them. Without a will, Alabama's intestate laws will determine how your assets are distributed.

This makes having a will essential to ensure your non-probate assets are distributed according to your wishes.

Many people have found unclaimed money in Alabama's database. It’s worth a quick search to see if you’re owed any money. It’s easy and free to check! 💻

Alabama is holding up to $1.3 billion in unclaimed cash. How much you could be owed. Alabama's Unclaimed Property Vault in Montgomery includes items like Babe Ruth-autographed baseballs, rare currency, and property from forfeited safety deposit boxes. However, Assistant State Treasurer Chad Wright says most of their 12 million properties are pure cash money.
