Project 2025 and Unions 07/23/2024

We have been hearing a lot about Project 2025, and what could potentially happen to organized labor under a Trump administration. National AFL-CIO outlines all the way our unions and membership will be impacted if this plan becomes a reality:

Project 2025 and Unions Project 2025 and Unions Project 2025 is the 920-page document by Donald Trump and his allies that spells out what they plan to do during a Trump second term.We broke it down for you: How would this agenda affect union members and working families?Project 2025 includes proposals to:Make it easier for...

There has been no greater champion in the White House for America’s workers than President Joe Biden. This is why the AFL-CIO unequivocally supported Biden–Harris for re-election earlier than any other presidential endorsement in our history. And it is why, with our deepest gratitude and respect, we honor President Biden’s choice to not run for re-election.

President Brett Voorhies: "The Indiana AFL-CIO knows that as Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Terry Goodin will be the same ardent supporter of working families and public education he was in his 20 years of service as a State Representative. This was exemplified by his leadership of the 2011 Democrat walkout in response to Republican right to work legislation. We are excited to support the McCormick - Goodin ticket that will bring common sense, stability, and pro-labor values to the leadership of Indiana."

Today, I was joined by Mike Schmuhl to discuss the serious and dangerous implications of a Beckwith-Braun ticket. On Thursday, I will announce my selection for lieutenant governor. My selection was based upon character, competence for the position, and overwhelming commitment to serve Indiana in the highest regard. Our team will fight for all Hoosiers. All means all.

With Workers Memorial 2024 upcoming on Sunday, we reflect back on the first event held April 28th, 1970 to commemorate the enshrinement of the Occupational Safety and Health Act into law. Since that law came into effect, worker safety regulation has dramatically improved. However, over 50 years later, workers across the country are still dying on the job. This year’s AFL-CIO Death on the Job report said we lost 156 workers in Indiana in 2022. That is 156 lives taken far before their time. As we approach this day of remembrance and solemnity, we must honor those lost too soon. We must also strive to have no worker fear for their lives at work, no matter their occupation. A safe workplace is a fundamental right, and we at the Indiana AFL-CIO will continue to demand our lawmakers improve workplace safety and create jobs with dignity.

At American Roots, they are leading the charge to bring back "Made in America."

"We have to make a profit, but that will never be at the expense workers, our values or our products." Good words to live by.

The U.S. has to shift its policy back to creating manufacturing jobs in this country. The Waxmans are showing that theoretical can be a reality.

Opinion | America Can Still Make a Damn Good Sweatshirt What happened to manufacturing in America is a story we think we know but do not.
