Indiana Hospital Association

IHA works to continuously improve health care in the state of Indiana.

The Indiana Hospital Association was founded in 1921 by hospital leaders who wanted to improve the quality of care in Indiana by sharing best practices. IHA serves more than 170 Hoosier hospitals--from rural community hospitals to regional and statewide health systems. IHA's primary functions include advocacy, regulatory, data reporting and analysis, professional development, patient safety and quality, and communications.

Hoosiers are facing extreme heat. 🌡️ High heat and humidity cause the body to work extra hard to maintain a normal temperature. Stay indoors with air conditioning, check on vulnerable loved ones and pets, and learn to recognize the signs of heat illness.

Everyone goes through periods of hardship and stress, and it’s important to take care of yourself and have tools on standby to use when times get tough. A coping toolbox is a collection of skills, techniques, items, and other suggestions that you can turn to as soon as you start to feel anxious or distressed. No one thing works for everyone. If you're starting from scratch, here are some ideas for addressing your basic needs:

• Eat a healthy snack.
• Drink a glass of water.
• Take a shower or bath.
• Take a nap.
• Brush your teeth.

Coping toolbox = self-care. Make a list of solutions & your strengths. Talk directly to someone who upset you, fill in the blanks: "I feel _____ when (this happens) because _____. Next time, could you please ____?" 💚

Life can be tough and it's important to have coping mechanisms in place. A coping toolbox is a collection of skills, techniques, and items that can help you manage stress and anxiety. Here are some ideas for processing difficult emotions: draw, make a gratitude list, punch a pillow, scream, cry, rip paper, and vent to a trusted person or through writing. Avoid using social media when highly emotional to prevent saying something you may regret. 💚
