One of the most successful girls basketball programs in Indiana history, the Ben Davis Lady Giants have over 700 wins as a program. The Lady Giants compete in one of the nation's most difficult hotbeds for high school basketball, Marion County, Indiana, and in a conference full of some of the state's best programs, the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference. Coach Joe Lentz has decided to retire from coaching. 47 years of coaching basketball, 24 as a head coach. Nine of those at Ben Davis. As a head coach Joe won 9 sectionals, 5 regionals, 1 semistate and a state championship at Center Grove during the single class era. Coach of the 98 Indiana All-Stars and twice named the Indy Star's Coach of the year.
It was a great run.

The team will now move on to the Regional at Decatur Central on Saturday and take on the Lawrence North Wildcats at 10:00 am.
The Lady Giants will open sectional play on Friday night against Roncalli in the second game of the Pike sectional. Game time will be approximately 7:30.

Yesterday the Lady Giants defeated the Center Grove Trojans in a defensive struggle 41-37. Great win for the Lady Giants as they get ready for a tough week with Franklin Central and Carmel and look forward to the Sectional the following week.
Tuesday night is the last home game of the season and Senior night.
Hope many of our fans can come out to celebrate our four seniors. Khera Goss, Cherrelle Newsom, Darien Royston and Ny'Re Williams.
After a 56-41 victory over Pike on Saturday the Lady Giants are preparing for a home game on Saturday against Center Grove. The game will be featuring Coaches vs. Cancer. During halftime cheerleaders will go through the crowd collecting donations for the American Cancer Society. The BD girls will be wearing pink socks. Also at halftime there will be a Free Throw shooting event. For a dollar anyone can come onto the floor and try a free throw. if you make the shot you get a prize.
Hope to have a great crowd on Saturday. JV game begins at noon.
Great day on Friday for the Lady Giants. In the Ben Davis Holiday Classic two wins. 71-44 over the Avon Orioles and 64-48 over the Heritage Christian Eagles.
The team will travel to Perry Meridian on Tue. Jan. 7 at 7:30.
Getting back into the regular season after the county Tourney on Thursday. Finally a home game against Southport. The girls travel to Martinsville on Saturday for a 1:30 afternoon game. GO LADY GIANTS
The Lady Giants will begin play in the Marion County tourney this Tuesday at 7:00 pm at Lawrence Central. The team will be trying to avenge an earlier 92-83 loss to the Bears.
The Lady Giants came out with a hard fought victory last Thursday night over Warren Central.. Khera Goss led the way with 23 points as BD went to 2 and 3 on the season.
The Lady Giants return to action on Tuesday night traveling to Lafayette Jeff.
Currently at 1-3 the Lady giants have been struggling with injuries. Please keep Cherrelle Newsom in your prayers as she will have ACL surgery on Wednesday. Ny'Re Williams is being treated for a sprained knee ligament and will be out for a while as well.
This week's game at Warren Central has been moved to Thursday due to the football semistate. Go Lady Giants and best of luck to the football team against Center Grove.
Tough week for the Lady Giants. Lost to Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers. Getting ready to face Mooresville in the season's home opener on Tuesday.
the Lady Giants will open their 19-20 season on Thursday at Hamilton Southeastern at 7:30 pm. This is a change from the original schedule which was Saturday to accomadate the HSE Volleyball team playing in the State Championship game on Saturday.
The team will travel to Hamilton Southeastern on Saturday morning for an 11:30 game with Fishers.
Great opportunity as we get to test ourselves against the #1 ranked team in 4A (HSE) and a very strong young Fishers team.

Tonight the Lady Giants will host Noblesville in a scrimmage game. Tip off is at 6:00 pm. Great opportunity to be the first basketball game on the new floor.
The start of official practice is less than a week away. Practice begins at 10 am on Monday Oct. 21. The girls have been working very hard in pre season workouts. Very enthusiastic. Looking forward to a fun season.
School is back in session. Keep alert for notice of a call out meeting during August for our fall workouts which will begin after Labor Day. Hope everyone gets off to a great start. Keep in mind academics are what we are here for.
It's moratorium week. No activity for the Lady Giants as a team but most are working with their AAU teams. We had a good summer and felt like we grew as a team and got better.
Team activity will begin again After Labor day as we begin our limited contact sessions.
Just a reminder for all that BD Athletic Physicals are tomorrow April 24 at the High School in the MPA from 5;30-8:30. Great way to get the physical out of the way for the summer and all of next school year.
BD Girls Basketball Camp will run from May 6-9 at the High School from 6:15-8:15 on those evenings. Flyers have been passed out to all the elementary schools and to the Middle Schools. Sign up by Friday May 4 and the fee will be $40 instead of the $50 at the door.

The season may be over but the work for next year is just beginning. K-3 basketball at Bridgeport elementary will end on March 16. Spring open gyms will begin on April 9. Great opportunity for those players not in a Spring sport to work to get better. Lady Giant Basketball Camp will be held from May 6-9 in the MPA at the high school from 6:15-8:15. All Wayne Township girls from current Kindergardners to 8th graders are eligible to attend.
Summer program begins on June 3 with conditioning and practice at 9:00 am in the MPA.
The Lady Giants season came to an end on Saturdaynight in the Regional Championship game at Decatur Central.
After defeating Mt. Vernon 52-32 in the morning game BD ran into a hot shooting Lawrence North team and lost 60-46. The ladies finished the season with a sectional championship and a 17-9 record. Much thanks and congratulations to seniors Jada Coleman, Brianna Jones, Geniyia Petty, Djanae Walker and Ambrea Wensey.
Like Queen says "We are the Champions" of the Southport sectional at least. Great job by the Lady Trojans. We travel to Decatur Central on Saturday to play Mt. Vernon in the second game of that regional.

The Lady Giants defeated Carmel on Friday night by a score of 60-56. Ambrea Wensey led in scoring with 23 points. Jada Coleman had 11 and Cherrelle Newsom had 10. Sectional begins on Tuesday with BD facing the winner of Perry Meridian and Decatur Central on Friday.
The Wayne Township K-3 program will begin this Saturday at 9:00 am at Breidgeport Elementary. Weather looks like it will finally cooperate. K & first graders from 9-10:30 and 2nd & 3rd graders from 10:30 - noon.
The Lady Giants defeated Franklin Central last evening 59-48. Khera Goss had 13 points, Ambrea Wensey 12 and Jada Coleman and Cherrelle Newsom both had 10. Friday night the final game of the regular season will be against Carmel at home. It is also senior night a chance to recognize the 5 seniors Jada Coleman, Brianna Jones, Geniya Petty, Djanae Walker and Ambrea Wensey, for all of their contributions to our program.
Heading into the last week of the regular season the Lady Giants travel to Franklin Central tonight. On Friday BD will host Carmel on Senior night. 5 seniors will be honored for their contributions to our program.
Sectional draw has the Lady Giants getting a bye in the first round and will play the winner of Perry Meridian and Decatur Central on Friday night in the second game at Southport.

The Wayne township K-3 Girls Basketball program is scheduled to start on Saturday Jan. 19. This is a postponement from last Saturday. If weather prevents us from starting again, we will begin on the following Saturday.
Last night the Lady Giants played Pike in a game that was originally scheduled for Saturday. the Lady giants came home with a 60-56 victory. Khera Goss led the way with 18 points while Ambrea Wensey had 13 and Cherrelle Newsom added 12.
BD travels to Center Grove on Friday in a game that has been moved up from Saturday in anticipation of bad weather.
Great win last night against #6 ranked North Central. 59-55. Four players in double figures led by Ambrea Wensey with 15. Great effort by the entire team.
