The current makeup of the General Assembly, consisting of 100 Representatives serving 2-year terms and 50 senators serving 4-year terms, was established in the Constitution of 1851. The General Assembly met every other year until 1972, when it began meeting annually.

The State Department of Agriculture recently awarded 103 Indiana farm families with Hoosier Homestead Awards.
The Hoosier Homestead Award recognizes farms owned by the same family for at least 100 consecutive years and consist of more than 20 acres, or more than $1,000 worth of product per year.

Lead water lines pose a serious health risk to humans, and unfortunately, there are still more than 265,000 in use in Indiana. This is why Senate Republicans passed a law establishing an effective method to remove unsafe lead water lines to ensure the safety of all Hoosiers. Our Hoosier Olympic athletes have officially concluded their time at the Paris Olympics, and they did not return home empty-handed! Their efforts earned Team USA a grand total of 20 medals, 10 of which were gold.
Had they competed as their own country, athletes from Indiana would have ranked 11th overall, and 13th for the number of gold medals collected.
Congratulations to all those who competed and gave their best efforts at the Olympics! We are proud to have such excellent representatives at this year's summer Olympics.

The results of the Conservation Tillage Transect survey revealed that 1.7 million acres of farmland are now under living cover across all crops in Indiana. This is due to the increasing adoption of cover crops used by farmers, which benefit soil health, water management and overall farm productivity.
