Hello, flower lovers! Have you ever wondered about the origins of the beautiful bouquets we adore today? Let's take a delightful journey through time and explore the history of bouquets. 💐

Ancient Beginnings 🌿

Bouquets date back to ancient civilizations, where they held symbolic meanings and were often used in rituals and ceremonies. In ancient Egypt, flowers were used to honor the gods and adorn tombs, symbolizing rebirth and eternal life.

Medieval Messages 🌷

During the Middle Ages, bouquets became a way to communicate emotions and messages through the “language of flowers.” Each bloom carried a specific meaning, allowing people to express feelings without words. Roses for love, lilies for purity, and daisies for innocence were popular choices.

Victorian Sentiments 🌹

The Victorian era saw the rise of "floriography," the art of sending coded messages with flowers. Bouquets were carefully curated to convey complex emotions and sentiments. This era gave birth to the iconic nosegay, a small, fragrant bouquet meant to mask unpleasant odors and ward off diseases.

Modern Expressions 🌼

Today, bouquets are an essential part of celebrations, from weddings and anniversaries to graduations and birthdays. They have evolved into a form of art, with florists creating stunning arrangements that reflect personal style and seasonal beauty.

Next time you receive or gift a bouquet, remember the rich tradition and meaning behind each bloom.

Please join us WEDNESDAY at 6:30 to brigade them to the tent. Lincoln Square Irvington has graciously provided “breakfast for dinner” once we’re done moving the books.

The other really helpful opportunity will be for tear down on Sunday at 2:00 where we have to break everything down.

Here’s a link to the sign up that has additional shifts to help with organizing before and during the sale too!
