Our Youth Tree Team and Urban Naturalists got together to learn about environmental careers at our Future in Forestry Workshop! ๐ณ
They connected with leaders from all over the city to learn about tree health assessments, how trees and plants impact our waterways, school forestry resources, and entrepreneurship in the environmental industry.

During a Riparian Restoration, our team guides volunteers to identify "invasivesโ that are harming the ecosystem by stealing space, sunlight, and nutrients from other plants essential to local wildlife.

Our Youth Tree Team helps to water and mulch new trees all over Marion County, ensuring each gets the 15 gallons needed weekly.๐ง
From filling 525-gallon tanks to racing with water buckets, the YTT makes tree care exciting. Plus, no experience needed!

Our Urban Naturalists hit a home run at Victory Field โพ๏ธ with SavATree Careers' Alec Johnston! They learned about tree health assessments, pest treatments, and the tree care industry. ๐ณ
Thanks to a grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the UN program is on deck to create future tree care professionals. The grant also covers maintenance and data collection for KIB trees.
Through these experiences, the UNs are stepping up to the plate and gaining insights and skills for their future careers.
Tree canopies ๐ณ play a crucial role, especially during hot summers ๐ฅต, providing shade and cooling our neighborhoods.
With over 3,500 trees planted annually, KIB ensures these benefits continue to thrive. Community Forestry Manager, Henry Cox, shares his expert tips for planting trees correctly to ensure the healthy growth and longevity of your trees.

Last week, Cummins Inc joined Project GreenSpace for their second project of 2024. With their help, we were able to lay 7 tons of flume (that's 14,000lbs!) to create a gravel walkway, as well as spread four cubic yards of mulch.

New tech helps Indy plan where to plant trees to reduce effects of rising temps, flooding American Forests and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful partnering to create a new digital tool to help determine where to best plant trees in Marion County.

Earlier this month, our Youth Tree Team joined forces with our Urban Naturalists at Brookside Park for a habitat restoration.
With many hands, and guided by the UNโs great knowledge, this project was filled with fun and rewarding work!
Last week, the Young Professionals of Delta Faucet joined us at Gethsemane Lutheran Church GreenSpace for an impactful workday.
Together, they filled 44 overflowing trash bags with 440 pounds of weeds and cleared 357 feet of planting beds! ๐ฑ
Thanks to these volunteers for helping us to create a thriving, public GreenSpace!
