The Villages President & CEO and EVP of Development & Communications attend the ceremonial signing of House Bill 1101 yesterday. We are grateful to Representative Ryan Lauer for authoring the bill, Co-authored by Rep. McGuire, Rep. Davis, and Rep. Bauer who all worked with agencies like The Villages and individuals with lived experience to pass this legislation. The bill established a safe baby court as a type of problem-solving court for children three years of age and younger who are in need of services.

This morning, we celebrated with a ribbon cutting at our Children's Village, marking the exciting expansion and renovation of our Childcare Center! This new space will allow us to serve 16 more infants, a crucial addition in an area of Indianapolis considered a "childcare desert." It was a beautiful morning filled with heartfelt stories from moms, babies, and families who have been positively impacted by Children's Village. We extend our deepest thanks to our incredible partners — Holladay Properties, Capitol Construction Services, Inc., and 4021 Architecture — whose expertise was instrumental in bringing this project to life. A huge thank you also goes to our generous funding partners — United Way of Central Indiana, Nicholas H. Noyes Jr. Memorial Foundation Inc., Matt & Sally Dunn, and the Barbara & John Phair Foundation Inc. — for their unwavering support from start to finish. As we look toward the future, we are excited to continue impacting the lives of even more children and families in our community.

Please join us in welcoming Aaron Atwell, our new Chief Financial Officer, to The Villages of Indiana! Today was Aaron's first day, and we’re thrilled to have him on board. Aaron brings a wealth of experience from his years at the Department of Child Services, where he served as Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer. With a career dedicated to financial and strategy roles in local and state government, Aaron is ready to hit the ground running. Outside of work, Aaron is an avid golf enthusiast and a big fan of Indiana University Athletics. He and his wife, Shannon, have been married for 10.5 years and are proud parents to two amazing boys. Welcome to our village, Aaron!

Last week, some of our Healthy Families team members were honored to represent Indiana at the two-day convening hosted by Casey Family Programs and Chapin Hall in Washington D.C.! The event brought together state teams, lived experts, community pathway partners, federal partners, and national leaders focused on Family First implementation. This gathering provided a platform for peer exchange, sharing lessons learned, and discussing strategies for cross-system collaboration to support a more family-centered approach to prevention services. Thank you, Indiana Department of Child Services, for this invitation and for supporting our efforts to make a meaningful impact!
