We are sure it makes for great decor, we get it, but that sign, it’s special.

THE FUTURE OF COFFEE

This Sunday (8/25), we are teaming up with our friends over at for a special coffee menu during your breakfast.

We are super excited for this, and our continue collaboration with one of Iowa City’s most historic establishment, and our favorite breakfast spot.💛

Throughout this journey, we haven’t been overly great at celebrating small wins, something that isn’t easy when you’re hyper focused on the next thing, and the next thing, and so on.

Towards the end of 2023 we were awarded a award for our retail jars in the “Outstanding Packaging Whole Bean” category, an award with great entries across the world.

This award is a reminder of our journey, and a tip of the cap to our guy .psd , who without his vision, this wouldn’t have been possible.

To be able to bring this award back to Iowa City is amazing.

Thank you to you all for supporting us over and over, we wouldn’t be here without you all!

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!

To make this as equitable as possible we are hosting a raffle system for our tattoo pop up, being this is a first and there are only about 6-8 slots depending on how the day goes, we want to give everyone a fair shot!

- From 7/9-7/17 we will have a live raffle system. To be eligible is simple, come into the cafe, make a purchase, and sign up. If you come into the cafe multiple days, you can submit an additional ticket per purchase. Entries are unlimited- one per purchase.

- We will contact those winners on 7/18- you must confirm your spot when texted, or it will go to the next person chosen. We will confirm a time slot for you.

- We will have a standby line! If you are not drawn in the raffle we will have a standby line, if someone doesn’t show within 5 minutes for their spot- whoever is first in line is up.

- Please expect to pay $100 for the tattoo, this will go to Katie herself, not Daydrink.

- We will allocate about 1 hour per time slot- so please be prepared.

Also, this is our first time doing this so bear with us! We are so excited to have Katie do this with us before she leaves for Chicago!

Please be respectful and know our intent is to make this as fair as possible.💛

We have been excited for the release of our Washed Kenya for a few weeks now, just to have the labels get lost in transit for a few days, then have them arrive and the stickers be completely wrong.

In these situations it’s easy to get upset and shut down, or you can try to see through a new lens and improvise- and luckily not all the stickers were wrong- just our jar stickers.

The last thing we want to do is deprive you all of such a great coffee, just because we want to make sure it looks a certain way! So, you’ll see this release look a little different, but in a way, we love it.

Also, going forward we will be releasing little sample jars, about 50 grams or 2-3 brews- that way if you don’t want a full jar at home, or need a small gift for someone, we have you covered!

In this coffee, you’ll find notes of blackberry, fudge and lime.💚

For each seasonal coffee, our approach is simple, providing the best quality coffee and making it approachable for all.

Sometimes too much information can be daunting, so for each seasonal coffee we want to give you the information you need, with the ability to dive deeper if so desired.

Our Spring coffee will be a rotating naturally processed Brazil, from rotating farms and regions. This will allow us to continue to explore the beautiful coffees of the country, without segmenting ourselves to only one region or farm, while still giving you a fresh cup that is sure to satisfy!

023 | Bensa Sidama

The Sidama region of Ethiopia is home to nearly 8 million people with distinct cultures and traditions. Throughout the process, only the ripest cherries are picked. Drying natural coffees can be a long process, but one not to be overlooked to ensure the coffee is fully ripened. Coffees from the Sidama region are often referred to as “Sidamo”, a misnomer dating back to the 1880s. In this sweet cup, you’ll notice a lot of floral notes and some light red fruits.
