Many years ago, I was privileged to attend a World Council of Churches meeting in which the subject of infant formula was the topic of discussion. At that time, there was a world wide outcry and a boycott of the Nestle's company-- producer and distributor of baby formula to third world countries. Many churches around the world called for a fight against the harmful marketing practices of those companies producing artificial powdered baby milk (infant formula) to mothers of newborns. Because this is World Breastfeeding Week, I decided to put a link to the World Council of Churches publication from back in December of 1993 that still is as relevant today as it was back then as the attached article by Nicholas Kristof in today's New York Times.
