UD President Jonathan J. Sanford, PhD, on Holocaust Remembrance Day:

"It is especially fitting at this moment that we remember and grieve the atrocities committed on account of antisemitism in the past. We must also be attentive to, and make ourselves ready to speak and act against, atrocities that threaten to resurge in our time in new ways. The University of Dallas will always remain a place in which we all, including our Jewish students, faculty and staff, can know we are safe and can flourish in our common pursuit of wisdom, truth and virtue."

The University of Dallas is proud to be the alma mater of many consecrated men and women, including nine Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia.

UD is also proud to become the first university with a permanent convent for the Nashville Dominicans.

“We are so grateful to the University of Dallas for its desire to provide a permanent convent on campus for our sisters teaching at UD and Mary Immaculate,” said Sr. Catherine Anne Burleigh, OP, BA ’94, vicaress general for the congregation.

“We know that the presence of religious sisters played an integral part in the founding and early days of the university, and we are humbled to be involved in such a wonderful community that takes seriously the pursuit of truth, wisdom and virtue.”

Are you interested in reviewing children’s books? If so, we are interested in YOU!

Paulist Press publishes a variety of children’s books each year with important and valuable lessons. Yet, they are under recognized.

We would like to share these books more broadly as they apply to children from different walks of life and one step would be with reviewers.

If you are interested in being added to our pitch lists for review of children’s books please comment or DM us privately. We would love to work with you!

ِA Call for Prayer and Fasting for Peace 10/13/2023

University President Jonathan J. Sanford, PhD, addressed to students, faculty and staff of the University of Dallas the following request for prayers for the Jewish people and for peace in the Holy Land. We welcome you to join us as well.

"This has been a week of horrors for the Jewish people, those whom St. John Paul II calls our 'elder brothers in the faith.' The terrorist attacks that took place last Sabbath — atrocities in which many innocent Jews were murdered, r***d and kidnapped — were designed to strike at the heart of those whom we in the Easter Liturgy regard as 'first to hear the word of God.' It is a time of mourning and prayer.

"I ask that you join me in prayer for the victims and their families, and in solidarity and prayer with all Jewish people, especially those who are fellow students, faculty and staff among us at the University of Dallas.

"All in the Holy Land, Israelis and Palestinians, are suffering as a result of these atrocities. I also ask that you consider heeding this call from Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Catholic Patriarch of Jerusalem, for a day of prayer and fasting for peace next Tuesday, Oct. 17."

ِA Call for Prayer and Fasting for Peace Since he is not the God of disorder but of peace (1 Cor. 14,33) Dear brothers and sisters, may the Lord indeed give us His peace! The pain and dismay at what is happening is great. Once again we find ourselves in the midst of a political and military crisis. We have suddenly been catapulted into a s...
