Finally, we say goodbye to Ms. Halle Roush who joined us this year as a paraprofessional:

"In the five short months I have been at Monroe, I have learned so much from the staff and students. This was my first paraprofessional job and I never knew how much I would love it! Every day was something new! I am moving away and will remember and miss my Monroe family so much! I hope you all have an amazing summer break!!! I will remember you all! Love, Ms. Halle"

Today we are also saying goodbye to Ms. Scott. We wish her the best going forward:

"After 12 years as a Monroe Mustang, it is time to begin my next chapter. To my students, I will miss you dearly, but I just know you will do some amazing things going forward! Keep your smiles and positive outlook! Love, Ms. Scott"

Yesterday we finished saying goodbye to our 5th graders. Today, we bid a fond farewell to Mrs. DiStefano:

"As some of you know, before my seven years teaching 5th grade at Monroe, I had a 25+ year career in Marketing. Recently, an opportunity to combine my love of teaching and marketing became possible. In the fall, I will join the Business Education team at Craig High School, teaching their Marketing classes and serving as the advisor for the DECA program and Cougar Den (student-run store). My decision came with mixed emotions as I love Monroe, my team, coworkers, students, and families. I am excited about this new endeavor. My credentials and marketing experience will benefit the Business program and students at CHS.

Thank you for the part you have played during my time at Monroe. I appreciate being welcomed into the Monroe family with open arms and support as I navigated a new career as a teacher. I was extremely fortunate to learn from the BEST! I am proud to be a Monroe Mustang and wish you all the best. I look forward to reuniting with all of my 5th graders when they get to Craig!"

““In the mind of every artist there is a masterpiece.” – Kai Greene

This week's is from Monroe Elementary School.

Art teacher Ms. Messier shared this work titled "Super Heroes" by Oliver Ennocenti (1st-grade). He created this by using markers on paper.

We think one of Oliver's super-powers is his creativity!

3rd Grade students went to the Francis Willard School and the Lincoln Tallman House in Janesville as part of our Trimester 3 Early Janesville History Social Studies curriculum. At the Frances Willard School, we got to experience what it was like to go to school in a one-room schoolhouse and played some fun outside recess games from that time. We also took a tour of the Lincoln-Tallman House Museum. On our tour, we walked the halls, entered the rooms, and heard stories about the Tallman family and their daily life from 1857-1915. We also tried a few daily chores that the employees of the Tallman family did such as grinding coffee, sifting flour, washing clothes, sewing, and learned about making quilts.
