Update: still have one(1)- two(2) more spots to fill!

Local 538 has a couple of spots available in an upcoming 40 hour Industrial Rigging certification class. The dates for this class are September 7/8, and 14/15, 2024. Start time will be 7:00 a.m., at the local training center. Please reach out to Training Coordinator Justin Hamilton at 423-928-5751 before the end of the week if you have any questions, or would like to get registered.

Attention members: the training center will be closed all next week for practice and testing. We will open back up on Tuesday, September 3. So, if you plan on coming to practice, just notify Training Coordinator Justin Hamilton to make arrangements for that when we return. The office will still be open during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Just a reminder about Local 538’s upcoming 3rd annual Golf Classic Saturday, September 7th at Tri Cities golf course, starting at 9 a.m. Cost is $50 per player/$200 per team, and all proceeds go to helping local charities for Christmas. Come on out and support a good cause. If you’d like to register, please reach out to Randy Frye, or feel free to just show up. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m.

Just ONE MORE WEEK before live music returns to Downtown Center for the 2024 Sounds of Summer Series. Bluegrass is featured on Tuesday evenings and southern rock/country is planned each Thursday during June, July and August. The entire series is FREE thanks to the generosity of this year's sponsors - Eastman Credit Union, Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 538 of Johnson City, Front Row Music, Delta Blues BBQ, The Sessions Hotel, and 98.5 WTFM. This will help us keep your bio’s accurate, certifications up to date,and maintain your continuities properly. This goes for any traveling members of the UA as well, because most of our member tracking systems don’t reciprocate with the uanet. Local 538’s offices will be closing at 11 a.m. tomorrow in observance of Good Friday. The training center will be closed during the day next week as well, (April 1-5, 2024) due to the Tennessee State Apprenticeship Competition. Good luck to all of our contestants representing, and safe travels to all in route to Local 43 in Chattanooga, TN. for this year’s contest!

Start time will be 7:00 a.m. You must have up to date general valve certifications to take this course. Just a reminder that Local 538 will have a small float in the Johnson City Christmas parade this Saturday, December 2, 2023. Parade starts at 10:30 a.m.
