Our Social Services

The Charles O. Gordon Sr. Center of Hope is located on our main campus in downtown Johnson City at 200 Ashe Street. In the Center of Hope, The Salvation Army provides emergency and transitional shelter, financial assistance through social services, and meals through bagged food for families. Our dedicated staff helps asses individual needs and works with individuals to determine the most helpful course of action. For more information on any of the programs at our Center of Hope, contact (423) 926-8901 or (423) 926-2102.

Shelter Programs: The Center of Hope operates three programs; Emergency Shelter for transient clients, Transitional Housing for longer term stays, and VA Per Diem program for Veterans. Our longer stay residents are provided with individual case management, life skills courses, and budgeting workshops.

Feeding Kitchen Hours: Lunch is served 7 days per week, Monday to Saturday from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and Sunday 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Dinner is every day from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM. This ministry provides hot meals twice daily for the homeless or anyone in need of a meal. Breakfast is included for shelter residents only.

Social Service Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM by appointment. Our individual financial assistance helps prevent eviction, power shut-off, utilities, etc. Our social service office also provides food from our food pantry and clothing from our thrift store to those in need.
