The SHHS Bridge Program will be extending our reach to other high schools affected by Helene in Tennessee and North Carolina. For ten years our program has provided essentials for high school students in need of basic necessities and we want to make sure all our friends in locations affected have the same support at this challenging time.
Please donate through:
+ Our Amazon wish list (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/71FKU1SNZ3ZE)
+ A monetary donation (https://sciencehill.givebacks.com/store/items/877376)
The wish list will be updated from time to time as new specific needs arise.
Our program allows kids to be served anonymously through their guidance counselors. We will be reaching out to the counselors of these schools directly to make sure they know we are here and ready to help. As always, we so appreciate your help and could not do what we do without our community.
If you are out of the area, and looking for a way to have a direct positive impact, this is it. You are a few clicks away from providing essentials for a student in need.
If you would prefer to mail a check, please send it to:

Johnson City Schools 3rd and 4th grade students outperformed their peers across the state for the ELA portion of the spring 2024 Tennessee Comprehensive Academic Program (TCAP) assessment. In Tennessee, 3rd-grade students increased their average to 40.9 percent proficient, while 63 percent of Johnson City Schools 3rd graders were proficient. That was a drop from 64 percent during the 2022-2023 school year. Additionally, the 4th grade cohort had 68 percent of students perform proficiently. That outperformed the state average of 46.4 percent.
“These outcomes are a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, support staff and families,” Johnson City Schools Superintendent Steve Barnett said. "By working closely with our teachers and support services, we will continue to ensure that all of our students have the opportunities and resources to become successful readers."

The Johnson City Planning and Development Services Department is embarking on a comprehensive Growth Management Plan (Horizon 2045) that will guide how our community grows in the next 20+ years. Currently, organizers are in the second stage of the process, which includes developing a growth boundary line and compiling information from a host of stakeholders.
“Public input is crucial to this plan,” said Director Will Righter. “Input meetings are one of the ways we can better understand how our citizens want the community to grow. We are looking for input on development, infrastructure, zoning, and preservation to guide our decision making.”
The meeting will be held between 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29 at Indian Trail Middle School, 307 Car-Mol Drive. The public can drop in during this time period to discuss the City’s future with organizers.

If you haven’t heard yet, Science Hill unveiled a mascot this year before the first home football game. Toppy will be visiting each school for special events like carnivals and fall festivals, etc as well as reading events. He will also appear at SH athletic events, as well as Jr. Topper football games, etc. In conjunction with Toppy’s arrival, the Science Hill PTSA is offering shirts for all future Toppers! We are also spearheading a community-wide campaign for Topper Pride by selling these yard signs. We’d love to see a sign in every family’s yard!
These are PRE-ORDER items only. They will not be for sale at future events. The shirts will be done by sublimation printing on an ash gray t-shirt. ORDER DEADLINE: September 15. Signs are $10 each and shirts are $15 each.
Questions? Please email [email protected]
