The VSC Board and staff are pleased to welcome Helen Wan and Jeff Clarke as new members of the Board of Trustees. Wan’s impact on nonprofit and corporate diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and Clarke’s community-building efforts through philanthropy will strengthen the board’s ability to further the mission.
Helen Wan is a novelist and media lawyer who writes and consults on DEI. Wan’s debut novel, THE PARTNER TRACK (Macmillan), about a woman of color navigating the politics of corporate America, became a Washington Post Magazine cover story on shattering glass ceilings and is now an original TV series on Netflix.
Jeff Clarke and his wife Kris own a small business in Stowe, VT. Jeff spent many years as a senior leader in philanthropy. In funding both individual artists and arts organizations of all types, Clarke saw firsthand the important role the arts, culture, and creativity play in creating and sustaining communities in which people want to live, work, and play.
Please join us in welcoming Helen and Jeff!
At our Annual Board meeting, VSC said goodbye to Musa Mayer. Musa served on the VSC Board of Trustees for an incredible 22 years! Our Board Chair, Kate Rebernak said it best, “We are deeply grateful to Musa for her steadfast dedication over the years. Her wisdom and influence have been pivotal, and she will always remain a cherished part of the VSC community.”
Thank you, Musa!

We are saddened by the passing of Mary Louise Pierson. She meant so much to VSC as a former board chair, artist, and friend. Our hearts go out to her family.
Mary Louise Pierson - VTDigger Mary Louise was a passionate supporter of the arts and the community in which she lived.
We have a crane on site, today, working on replacing the egress that was damaged in the 2023 flood. It is amazing how long it can take to recover from the damages of natural disasters. To learn more about how the July 2023 flood impacted our campus and our road to recovery, check out the video from last month's Community Conversation on Zoom.

We have made the decision to postpone the Opening Reception for Vermont Week 1984. VSC is safe but with road closures on either side of us and flooding within Johnson Village, the only decision is to cancel. Stay tuned for a new date to celebrate VSC and these wonderful Vermont artists.
Update: VSC stayed flood water free this time around. The town of Johnson did flood but faired well and waters have receded.
It is one year to the day that flooding hit our campus and Vermont is experiencing flooding again. These are the pictures of the Gihon this morning. We are monitoring our campus very closely and grateful to be flood water free for now. Our hearts go out to all our Vermont neighbors that have been impacted. To our wonderful town of Johnson - stay safe.
It has been nearly one year since flooding hit our campus. Join the VSC Team on Zoom for a Community Conversation. Find out how the July 2023 flood impacted our campus, where we are today and what's next for VSC!
