Lamoille North Summer Programs are OPEN Friday, July 12th.

We have spoken with local and state road crews and there are enough roads open or workarounds in place to safely travel throughout our communities, therefore all elementary summer program sites will be open today, Friday, July 12th. (The summer program at Lamoille Union High School does not typically run on Fridays.)

Thank you.

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE

07/11/2024

Our Lamoille North administrators have been in close contact with local and state road crews, and have determined we are good to OPEN our Lamoille North summer programs today, Thursday, July 11th.

Safety comes first, so if families feel unsafe in transporting their students to their program site, please remember that attendance is optional for these summer programs.

Be smart, be safe, and take care.

Like our fellow Vermonters across the state, we’re keeping a close eye on forecasted rainfall, which is expected to begin hitting our region on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service predicts widespread moderate to locally heavy rainfall Wednesday through Friday, which could raise rivers and waterways.

If —and we stress if— the rainfall impacts summer programming at our schools, we will communicate any updates or changes to schedules through our usual channels.

Please stay tuned to our Lamoille North district and school website and social media channels (Facebook & Instagram) for updates. We will make every effort possible to communicate directly with families of students in these summer programs.

Thank you.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day of profound significance marking the end of slavery in the United States. Even here in rural Vermont, where diversity may seem limited, it's essential to recognize and celebrate this pivotal moment in American history.

Juneteenth is not just a celebration for African Americans but a reminder to all of us about the value of freedom and equality. It's a chance to educate ourselves and our communities about the struggles and triumphs that have shaped our nation.

Let's come together to learn, reflect, and support each other in building a future where every voice is heard and every person is valued. Together, we can make a difference, even from our small corner of the world. 🌍❤️

Excessive Heat Awareness and Safety 06/17/2024

*** EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING ***

The US National Weather Service Burlington VT is warning communities of dangerous heat for all of Vermont this week:

A dangerous heat wave is expected this week. For places like Montpelier, the warmest temperatures in 30 years are expected. Many places will see consecutive days in the 90s with lows in the upper 60s to mid-70s, which will provide little relief overnight.

Wednesday is expected to be the warmest day, with some places approaching 100 degrees and possible heat indices above 105 degrees.

Please take precautions and check in with neighbors, friends, and family throughout the week.

Learn more about heat safety here:

Excessive Heat Awareness and Safety Heat index values up to 105 degrees are expected across Vermont and much of northern New York Tuesday through Thursday. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.....

The following message provides an overview of information for our Lamoille Union High School Graduation Ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, June 15th, at 11:00 a.m.

As of this posting, our plans are to hold an outdoor graduation ceremony on the Lamoille Union softball field. Due to possible impacts on field conditions, we are monitoring rainfall forecasted for Friday.

A final decision on the location will be made on Friday evening. If NO CHANGE to our outside location is needed, you will NOT hear from us again.

For those attending, please be courteous to our parking attendants and follow their directions. Parking will take place on our baseball field and guests will walk to the softball field for the ceremony. If someone in your party needs transportation from parking to the ceremony, please let one of our parking attendants know.

Again, as of this message, we are planning for an outdoor graduation ceremony on Saturday, the 15th. Please wear appropriate footwear and remember your sunscreen, as Saturday's forecast looks great. We will ONLY communicate with you again if a location change is needed.

Thank you!

*** Facility Update ***

Due to a water main break here in the Town of Johnson, water fountains will be closed for use today (5.24.24). Students are advised to bring water bottles to school if they're able. We will also provide water coolers for student and staff use.

Bathrooms will be fully operational and kitchen staff will follow all boil-water procedures throughout the day.

While this is an inconvenience, we will modify as needed to successfully host school Friday. Thank you to our parents, caregivers, and families for adjusting.

As a school district, we've had a lot to celebrate recently—student awards, community volunteer efforts, and staff recognitions. At the heart of Lamoille North's success are our hardworking, passionate teachers.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, help us acknowledge the folks who show up each day to create a caring, curious, and fun environment for our students.

Teachers serve as mentors and role models, they pass on knowledge and help to build critical thinking skills, they inspire and encourage student engagement.

We like to think our schools are the hearts of our communities. Well, it's our teachers who make those hearts beat!

Thank you for all you do. ❤️

05/08/2024

Let's take a moment to celebrate the hardworking, knowledgeable, and caring school nurses who care for students across our eight schools.

School nurses care for students, manage student medications, drive health and wellness initiatives, and serve our schools in many other capacities as mentors and coaches.

Thank you for all you do!

*** Connectivity Issues Monday 5.6.24 ***

Some of our elementary schools are experiencing intermittent internet and phone issues this morning (5.6.24). The issues seem to stem from our service provider Consolidated Communication.

Our system administrators are working with the company to resolve the issues, but we have not yet been given a timeline.

If you're having trouble contacting one of our elementary schools, feel free to call our district office at 802-851-1160 and we'll be happy to relay any important messages.

Thank you.

05/02/2024

Earlier today, Thursday, May 2nd, Lamoille North received a response to our request for a student attendance waiver based on the number of weather-related days we incurred this year. Our request has resulted in a change to the last STUDENT day as follows:

For ALL schools except Waterville Elementary School, the last student day is Monday, June 17, 2024. This will be an early release day.

For Waterville Elementary School, the last student day will be Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and it will be an early release day. (Waterville had an additional closure due to a power outage.)

Thank you for your patience as we waited for a decision from the Vermont Agency of Education.

04/30/2024

Please see the below dates and times for the budget information meeting and vote for our revised FY25 elementary-level budget.

Again, this revised FY25 elementary budget represents the education funding available to elementary students in Belvidere, Eden, Hyde Park, Johnson, and Waterville and will be voted upon by voters in those communities.
