Every year on this day, we honor the life and legacy of civil rights activist Elizabeth Peratrovich, and all her contributions to equality. She was the Grand President of the Alaska Native Sisterhood, and member of the Tlingit nation who worked for equality on behalf of Alaska Natives. She is credited with advocating for the passage of Alaska’s Anti-Discrimination Act of 1945.
