“I’m so glad I found Kesha on my prenatal journey! She’s a joy to work with and is also very knowledgeable and compassionate. I appreciated that she took the time to explain the anatomy and physiology behind the movements she was training me on so I could better understand the bigger picture.” - Reagan C. .good.lymph

It’s becoming more accepted that pelvic floor PT is beneficial postpartum, but did you know about all of the benefits to pelvic floor PT during pregnancy?

Working with a pelvic floor PT during pregnancy can keep you muscles strong, and you know you’re exercising in a safe way. We love seeing women early in pregnancy, because addressing issues early means less chance of developing pain as the pregnancy progresses, reduces the chances of major diastasis Recti and core dysfunction.

Women think back pain, hip pain while sleeping, or p***c bone pain is inevitable during pregnancy, but these things can actually be PREVENTED from occurring and can be addressed with therapy if already happening.

Additionally, there is a lot to learn about your pelvic floor, and the way it is used during pregnancy can actually affect childbirth.

How cool would it be if every woman who was pregnant or planned to become pregnant had this discussion with a specialist or wellness care providers and found out how they could work on pelvic floor function to facilitate childbirth with Pregnancy or postpartum physical therapy?

If you’re pregnant or thinking of becoming g pregnant, reach out to your local pelvic floor provider, who can address your changing body as whole to make it more stronger and resilient throughout pregnancy and beyond.

How many of you were told postpartum to rest for 6 weeks, come for 6 weeks postpartum check up, if everything is fine go back to work?

If you had some form of pelvic pain, leak and /or discomfort, Dr. suggests you to stop carrying heavy, try this meds, do some kegels and rest a little more and see you in another 2-3 weeks. Didn’t even explain what’s wrong, what are healthy ways to address this issue?

Lack of awareness about Pregnancy/Postpartum Pelvic floor rehab is the reason!

We don’t know what we don’t know. And pelvic floor education is usually one of those things people are surprised to learn about.

“I didn’t realize I was breathing that way”
“I didn’t know this thing I feel isn’t normal”
“I didn’t know I could do this to improve my lifting in the gym”
“I didn’t know doing Pelvic floor rehab prenatal & postpartum can help me so much.”
“I didn’t know I can stop wearing pads while running.”
“I didn’t know I can reverse my prolapse symptoms, I thought surgery is the only option.”

Educating others is the key! Because it means people can use that knowledge long past their time with us and more importantly, get back to their life symptom free.

Pelvic Floor rehab is not about just kegeling, our pelvic floor doesn’t work in isolation. It works with whole musculoskeletal and physiologic systems. Optimizing total body systems so that pelvic floor can do its job the way it supposed to is a part of the major concept.

As a Pelvic floor rehab specialists we do detailed assessment and analyze your chronic patterns contributing to current problems. Then we create step by step methods to restore, rebuild and regain your control over your pelvic floor.

🤯PSD- P***c Symphysis Dysfunction / SPD -Symphysis P***c Dysfunction

Pain in the front of the p***c bone or at Joint is also called symphysis p***c pain or SPD, P***c symphysis dysfunction PSD. This is a common pain that can occur during pregnancy, mostly starts in second trimester, which may worsen as you progress in third trimester. but you don’t need to be in pain!! We as Pelvic Health PTs can address the causes for the pain to have a more comfortable pregnancy.

Reasons for this are:

1️⃣Lack if coordination in the anterior oblique sling that connects from the chest to the opposite adductor. By strengthening this sling it can help with pelvic stability and decrease... pain. We can address this with rotation movements along with finding misalignment and addressing Muscular imbalances with personalized treatment protocols.

2️⃣Pelvic asymmetry where the pelvis is not
aligning in an optimal way. By doing pelvic resting exercises we can reset the pelvis one example of which is with the ball squeezes with feet in different positions along with hip shifted movements.

3️⃣Activity modification techniques, assessing need for external support belts or building healthy habits while staying active with tailored exercise to get your through rest of your pregnancy.

🌟 Considering VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section)?

Here’s why you should think about adding pelvic floor therapy to your prenatal care team and postpartum team:

🔍 Pelvic floor therapy optimizes pelvic floor muscle function, crucial for a successful VBAC.

🤰🏽 During vaginal birth, these muscles must relax to make way for baby. Addressing tension/stiffness/tenderness preps them for the task.

💪🏼 Therapy helps coordinate pelvic floor muscles for more efficient pushing—a key factor in VBAC success.

🌬️ Learning to breathe and engage deep core muscles enhances pelvic floor coordination, aiding the birthing process.

🦵🏼 Hip or low back pain/tightness can impact pelvic floor function. Therapy addresses these issues, indirectly benefiting pelvic floor muscles.

🧠 Education on pelvic floor function empowers you, boosting confidence for your birth journey!

🤱🏻During postpartum it’s crucial to get postpartum education, regain strength, endurance, coordination and it’s optimal functional strength to support total body recovery process and reduce chances of getting prolapse or long term prolapse, leaking, back pain and several other pain which may lead to chain of issues due to dysfunctional core.

🏃🏼‍♀️Back on track, running confidently, leakage-free! 🏃‍♀️✨ Pelvic floor PT changed the game, giving me strength and confidence. Don't wait too long! That is what our patients say.

Why women neglect pelvic floor PT until it's too late and rely on online programs:
🚨Misguided Beliefs🚨Many believe minor leakage or discomfort is normal postpartum and don't seek help until it worsens.
🚨Convenience Over Quality🚨Online programs offer convenience, but they might not cater to individual needs or provide personalized guidance.
🚨Lack of Feedback🚨Without a specialist's assessment, it's challenging to address specific issues or measure progress accurately.

Why in-person specialist care is crucial:
✅Personalized Evaluation:Specialists can assess individual conditions accurately, tailoring treatments to specific needs.
✅ Hands-On Guidance: In-person sessions allow for hands-on techniques, ensuring proper ex*****on and better results.
✅Immediate Feedback: Specialists provide instant feedback, correcting exercises or techniques as needed.
✅Holistic Approach : They consider various factors impacting pelvic health, providing comprehensive care beyond exercises alone.

If you are experiencing one or more of these issues, you might be suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD). But you're not alone in this! PFD is very common in men and women (unfortunately), but very treatable with pelvic floor physical therapy.
1. Speak with your doctor about your symptoms and get a physical exam
2. Request a prescription for pelvic floor physical therapy

Urge incontinence is a prevalent issue in the United States and world, affecting millions of individuals. This condition is characterized by a sudden and overwhelming urge to urinate, often leading to involuntary leakage. Fortunately, physical therapy offers evidence-based techniques to manage urge incontinence effectively. Some proven approaches include pelvic floor muscle training, bladder retraining, and behavioral strategies. These interventions have shown success in reducing urgency, improving bladder control, and enhancing overall quality of life for those dealing with urge incontinence. It's essential to consult with a qualified physical therapist to tailor a treatment plan based on individual needs and symptoms. . However, it's crucial to emphasize that these techniques are designed for individuals with specific medical conditions and should only be undertaken under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. Healthy individuals without bladder issues should not engage in these therapies, as they may not be suitable and could potentially have adverse effects. Always consult a healthcare provider for personalized advice on urinary health.
