Another great year of AAUW Tech Trek at ! The campers got brainy with the Ascend Neuroscience course 🧠 one of the camp's four courses.

The annual STEM camp - an AAUW program - is open to girls throughout Florida entering 8th grade who have been nominated by their science and math teachers. Campers stay on campus at FAU Jupiter and engage in hands-on science and math learning activities and field trips.

Tiny Worm Uncovers Long-lasting Prenatal Effects from Amphetamines 06/13/2024

A new study from researchers at the Florida Atlantic University Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute and the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College investigated the underlying mechanisms behind the long-term effects of prenatal exposure to amphetamine. Their results found alterations in the expression of specific genes that cause behavioral changes in adults.

Tiny Worm Uncovers Long-lasting Prenatal Effects from Amphetamines Using a tiny worm, FAU researchers have revealed the underlying mechanisms of embryonal exposure to methamphetamine (M**h) and amphetamines, a psychostimulant used to treat a variety of brain dysfunctions.

Wilkes Honors College Students Earn Funding for Start-up 06/11/2024

Nicholas Moy and Rachel Kavalakatt - a pair of Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College students and Kenan Scholars - secured roughly $16,000 in funding for their start-up company, Glaucova. They earned the awards at e-Fest, an annual undergraduate entrepreneurship competition.

FAU Researchers Land $1M in FDOH Grants to Fight Alzheimer’s Disease 05/16/2024

Three Florida Atlantic University researchers at the forefront of Alzheimer's disease research have each received a $350K grant from Florida Department of Health (DOH).

“With this funding, they will shed light on the biological functions of AD by taking advantage of synthetic chemistry strategies; provide an innovative online screening tool for older drivers with cognitive decline; and gain a deeper understanding of the role of brain cholesterol in AD.,” said Gregg Fields, Ph.D., FAU vice president for research.

17 remarkable seniors from FAU High School - Jupiter Campus were recognized at the Senior Research Symposium at Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience 🎓 🎉

As part of the partnership with Max Planck Academy, these students have access to MPFI laboratories and classes taught by MPFI researchers. They earn a high school diploma, Max Planck certificates and at least two years of no-cost college credit.

The symposium set new records with more than 170 student presentations based on original academic research or artistic creation 🔬🎨 It also featured a keynote address by Julio J. Ramirez, Ph.D., the R. Stuart Dickson Professor and director of the neuroscience program at Davidson College.
