Our Story
The FAU Academy for Community Inclusion is a program for individuals who have graduated from high school who had been diagnosed with developmental disabilities. The program will allow these students to earn certificates in supported employment, supported community access, and supported academics. These certificates will be offered in an inclusive environment on the Jupiter and Boca campuses of FAU. Students are part of the university and can participate in all campus and university events.
All students begin in the Supported Community Employment certificate but may add other certificate if they choose. A central elements of the employment track is to help the students understand their career goals and find an occupation that suits their interests and skills. While the Academy does not deliver industry certifications, like culinary, auto mechanic, or landscaper certificates, the program courses help students develop clear goals and the soft skills to succeed in most career fields
Applications for the next cohort of students will be available in February and close in mid May. Once the application is received, it is reviewed and eligible students are contacted for a personal interview. The selection of students occurs in July and classes begin in mid August.
Application can be found at the FAU ACI website: http://tinyurl.com/fauaci
